On Dec. 2, an 8-year-old boy in Taunton, MA was sent home and ordered by school officials to undergo a psychological evaluation after he drew a cross with a stick figure, which appeared to be a depiction of Jesus Christ.
The boy sketched the crucifix after his teacher asked the class for a drawing of something that reminded them of the holidays.
School administrators said they were concerned that he drew the figure with what appeared to be Xs over the eyes. They also claim that under questioning, the little boy said the figure was himself.
The child was allowed to return to school on Dec. 7.
Johnson told the Associated Press that his son may have been worried that he would be punished if he said he drew Jesus. "If he said it was him, it was more like a cartoon” Johnson stated.
Only days before, the family visited the Christmas display at the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette in Attleboro, MA.
Though Johnson said he has told his son that he did nothing wrong, he said the 8-year-old is distraught over the incident, and wants to transfer to another school.
Johnson said: "You can't walk back in an establishment that didn't have confidence in you ... and continue to do business with them. He's been excluded from all the other kids, man."
Johnson also wants an apology from the school. However, none has been forthcoming.
School district superintendent Julie Hackett has stated that the district’s reaction to the drawing was due to “safety protocols” which the school was required to follow.
*Reporter’s note: Could you ever imagine a time in this country when a second-grader would be thrown out of school, and ordered to see a psychologist before he could return for drawing a picture of Jesus Christ?
Well, I couldn’t have either…But it’s here!
We are not only living in a time when children are actually punished for their Christian beliefs, but also when we have a Presidential appointee (Obama‘s ‘safe school czar), overseeing our school system who advocates teaching physically harmful sex techniques to schoolchildren…complete with complimentary packets of K-Y Jelly!
The inmates are truly running the asylum.

its disturbing that we live in an age where a child is punished for drawing a key figure in his religion
what is wrong is the fact that he was afraid to admit that it was jesus on the cross. the school needs a psychologist if they think something is wrong with the child for what he chooses to draw.
their pathetic if they dont apologize to the kid (he's eight years old and that was no way to treat the kid,how would they like it if their kid got punished for drawing.)
This isn't about anti-religion. This is about teachers and school administrators believing that they are mandated to report any and every thing that might even remotely be related to violence under the threat of losing their licenses. This is hysteria pure and simple. This is a perfect example about how out of control our mandated reporters are becoming. They must be stopped. In my opinion, rid public schools of all agendas and get back to education pure and simple. Disgusting. Poor kid. But I would encourage him to stay at his school with his friends, overcome this, move forward, hold his head up high. He did nothing wrong. The school needs to be held accountable and the teacher and administrators need some kind of mandated reporter modification training. There is nothing all right with what they did to this child. Nothing whatsoever. It just shows fear and ignorance on their part. They should be punished. They should apologize to this child and his family immediately!
This is a total shame. This country and world is slowly trying to get rid of Christianity. It's no wonder that when the tribulation happens, most of the world will be deceived by the antichrist. MARK 8:38 "If you are ashamed of me and of my teaching in this godless and wicked day, then the Son of Man will be ashamed of you when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels."
Taxxachusetts is a very screwed up state anyway but this crosses the line. Homeschooling? Maybe it's OK to draw minora?
What does the sign at the top of the cross say? Jalen? Is that the kids name? I'd be worried about the kid too...
Got something to say?
