Obama has a great deal in common with Caligula

President Obama’s appointment of longtime open-borders advocate Janet Napolitano as Homeland Security Secretary, to oversee the defense of this nation’s borders, is every bit as absurd as the insane Roman emperor Caligula bestowing the title of consul on his favorite horse, Incitatus.

In making their laughable appointments, both Obama and Caligula showed not only incredible arrogance, but their absolute contempt for the public they were charged with protecting.

Last month Janet Napolitano stated publicly what most of us already knew…The Obama administration is planning another effort to grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. In a press conference, Napolitano argued how the country would benefit from placing illegal aliens "on a pathway to being legal."

In less than a year as head of the DHS, Janet Napolitano has refused much-needed funds for her department, leveled unfounded accusations at veterans, accused conservatives of being potential terrorists, stopped worksite immigration enforcement, weakened the highly effective 287g program, and is now busy promoting amnesty for illegal aliens.

In October, the Department of Homeland Security admitted that only 894 miles of this country’s 8,607 miles of America’s land borders, are actually being protected. The announcement came in the agency’s 2009 Performance Report.

During an April 2009 CNN interview, the woman charged with enforcing immigration laws, stated: “crossing the border [illegally] is not a crime per se..”

In addition to those dubious acts, during one of her visits to Capitol Hill, Napolitano downplayed the growing threat from the narco-state to our south. She was there in part, to explain why she had denied Texas Governor Rick Perry’s request for 1,000 federal troops to help protect his state’s long and dangerous border with Mexico.

Napolitano claimed that the violence posed by the drug cartels has yet to affect this country. She took this stance, despite the FBI report which claims that Mexican drug cartels are now operating in 230 U.S. cities.

In fact, within days of her sugar-coated testimony. Attorney General Eric Holder announced: “International drug trafficking organizations pose a sustained, serious threat to the safety and security of our communities. We can provide our communities the safety and the security that they deserve only by confronting these dangerous cartels head-on without reservation.”

Holder’s statement was made during a press conference following a February 2009 nationwide raid, which netted 750 drug cartel operatives.

Regardless of Napolitano’s political beliefs and her apparent sympathy for those who lack respect for our laws and enter this country illegally, the Homeland Security Secretary has the responsibility of securing our borders and removing criminal aliens from our communities…The same criminal aliens who kill our neighbors in horrific drunk driving accidents, who poison our fellow citizens with drugs such as methamphetamine (80-90 percent now coming from Mexico), and who all too often molest our children.

It is not however, the job of the Homeland Security Secretary to lobby for citizenship for this nation’s illegal alien population.

Excellent piece by Dave Gibson. He left out two criminal things illegal aliens do--murder 12 Americans each day nationwide and commit document fraud sometimes even before breaking into the U.S. by purchasing stolen or fraudulent U.S. ID.

Janet Napolitano is a man made disaster. Those in AZ are glad to be rid of her. 3 more years and she's out of here! She, like Hillary will need to find a new state, AZ won't let her back in.

“crossing the border [illegally] is not a crime per se..”

There are CIVIL and CRIMINAL violations of law. In making the statement above, DHS secretary Napolitano is acknoledging that crossing the border without authorization is in fact a CIVIL (not CRIMINAL) violation of law.

"While an illegal alien is subject to deportation, that person's ongoing presence in the United States in and of itself is not a crime, unless that person had been previously deported and regained illegal entry into this country."

Every illegal alien who is working, or has worked in the Unites States has committed one or more crimes, and some of these crimes are felonies. Among the crimes that illegal aliens have committed by working here are ID theft, document fraud, Social Security fraud, employment "I-9 Form" fraud, income tax evasion, and conspiracy to violate immigration laws. Many illegal aliens have also committed welfare fraud and food stamp fraud.

Except when you throw the immigrant out of the country as part of the punishment for having committed a crime here, which happens quite often with immigrants living in the United States.

Maybe you should call Lou Dobbs to be part of this discussion. The last I heard it was the congress that is supposed to make laws, not the president. Maybe we should blame the Mexicans for everything. They are after all different, and that is scary.

No, we don't need to blame Mexicans for everything. How about if we just blame Mexicans for the actual problems that Mexicans cause, which includes entering the United States illegally and violating other laws after they arrive here.

Unfortunately, so many Americans have become so apathetic, and so cowardly, that illegal aliens and their enablers are calling all of the shots. Citizens stand around, looking at each other, with a woe is me attitude, instead of actively eliminating every single representative that enables this crap to go on. The Democrat Party is a disaster and Rino republicans need to work at McDonalds. Period.

The vast majority of Mexican illegals [that is, Mexican nationals whose presence within the United States is unauthorized] have engaged in a massive criminal conspiracy to evade numerous immigration and labor laws before they jump the border. They contract with "coyotes" whose very business is the violation of US law. They hide out in "safe houses" awaiting clandestine transportation within the territory of the United States. They often have pre-arrange housing with family members who deliberately plan to aid and abet an illegal alien. Criminal enterprises extend them jobs, and link up with document counterfeiting operations to conceal those numerous crimes. Please, don't try to tell me they're just innocent, unwitting victims in this racket...they know what they're doing but they break the law anyway.
