President Obama says to punish enemies

President Obama has hit the campaign trail.  He is doing what many consider to be his strength.  As he sways potential independent and ultra-left voters, he has also given some indication of what many people have suspected for a few years.

The Los Angeles Times reported yesterday that President Obama, speaking in a taped interview that aired Monday said,

“And if Latinos sit out the election instead of saying, we're gonna punish our enemies and we're gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us, if they don't see that kind of upsurge in voting in this election, then I think it's gonna be harder and that's why I think it's so important that people focus on voting on November 2.”

In the past presidents have spoken about enemies and what the United States would do to them but they were talking about foreign powers.  How amazing that a sitting president can talk about punishing enemies, who are in fact countrymen.

Could the president be showing his true colors?  Are these attributes  of one who came up in the Chicago pay-for-play system?

In another campaign stop on Monday, President Obama said, “We don't mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back."

Is this the same president that said that he would look for bipartisan support and that he would have a transparent administration?  In fact he has been one of the most divisive and secretive.  In Nancy Pelosi’s own words, “We have to pass the bill so we can find out what is in it.”

So we have a president who is going to punish people.  We have a president who is going to make the minority party sit in the back of the bus.  With all due respect to the Office of the President and President Obama himself, is this thuggish, Chicago-style behavior befitting the Commander in Chief.
