Hundreds of private e-mail messages and documents hacked from a computer server at a British university are causing a stir among global warming skeptics, who say they show that climate scientists conspired to overstate the case for a human influence on climate change. The e-mail messages attributed to prominent American and in one e-mail exchange, a scientist writes of using a statistical “trick” in a chart illustrating a recent sharp warming trend. In another, a scientist refers to climate skeptics as “idiots.” British climate researchers, include discussions of scientific data and whether it should be released.
In 2012 the Kyoto Protocol to prevent climate changes and global warming runs out. To keep the process on the line there is an urgent need for a new climate protocol, according to the Copenhagen 2009 website. At the conference in Copenhagen 2009, the parties of the UNFCCC meet for the last time on a government level before the climate agreement needs to be renewed. Governmental representatives from 170 countries are expected to be in Copenhagen in the days of the conference accompanied by other governmental representatives, NGO's, journalists and others. In total 8000 people are expected to Copenhagen in the days of the climate meeting.
This is a "crisis" claim many of the leading scientists and proponents including Al Gore and Barrack Obama, of global warming, and climate change. Barrack Obama is expected to attend the event, a man accustomed to crisis, and add a bit of luster to the event. "This could be one hell of a global game-changer with big reverberations here at home," said Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., the lead sponsor of climate change legislation in the Senate. "The fact that the president will attend the Copenhagen talks underscores that the administration is putting its money where its mouth is, putting the president's prestige on the line."
Senator Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma is planning on calling an investigation into the e-mails and collusion between global warming researchers. " Well, on this thing, it is pretty serious", said Inhofe in a radio interview with the Washington Times, and is posted on Right Side News. "And since, you know, Barabara Boxer is the Chairman and I'm the Ranking Member on Environment and Public Works, if nothing happens in the next seven days when we go back into session a week from today that would change this situation, I will call for an investigation. 'Cause this thing is serious, you think about the literally millions of dollars that have been thrown away on some of this stuff that they came out with."

There is no such thing as proving a positive in science--only lessening the degree of uncertainty. So it's really hard for people who are not constantly thinking about these questions (philosophy of science and the particular evidence in this very sophisticated field) to understand what it would take to severely undermine the case for global warming.
There is not a simple and straightforward analogy here with the egg on your face you feel in a business when your email is accidentally broadcast to the wrong people in your company. The medium by which scientific evidence becomes accepted theory is the journal article--not the casual communication via email. Even if individual scientists reveal a lack of integrity through this appearance of a scandal (remember only selective emails have been publicized), there is still an enormous body of evidence contained in years of peer-reviewed articles strongly suggesting that doubting global warming is a losing proposition.
Sorry, Marconi, but assertion is not evidence. The leaked emails show more than simply that scientists can be nasty people; it shows that scientists can be very protective of their views and prone to use intimidation and ridicule to marginalize those they disagree with. How do you know no data were cooked? "No conspiracy is on record?" What does that mean?? Sounds like weasel-speak to me.

Articles you don't agree with are not 'legitimate' and when they appear you claim that the peer-reviews have been 'hijacked by a few skeptics'.

Every 26000 years the earth makes its full rotation from its wobble on its axis.Since this wobble is so small compared too what we notice , fluctuations in yearly tempatures and the added effect of the suns effects from flares and radiation dictate our weather.The earth is "a big recycling machine" constantly recycling what it gathers and over time will refurbish what it gathered from earthquakes ect. and transfer it to the surface from the core.

This is a partisan, poorly referenced video containing very obvious propanganda. The video is made by the Heartland Institute that according to Wikipedia, is a "conservative/libertarian free-market think tank that often funds global warming-skeptical research and is funded in part by ExxonMobil." Sources for the video include the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine, a politically-influenced institute which has gathered a lot of signatures of scientists in part by allowing people (even MDs and people with a bachelor's degree) with no expertise in global warming to sign it. They are given a very obviously biased article to read before being superficially vetted.
The quotes from the highly respected NOAA are entirely irrelevant to the controversial aspects of the debate regarding global warming. Who checked up on this video?--pure propaganda!
I fail to see how this scientist in the eastangliaemails with obvious disdain for global warming skeptics has managed through his email to undermine the entire peer review process. He is complaining that skeptics have gained a possible foothold through their own journal, "Climate Research."
I think there is a good analogy with checks and balances in government in which a system and laws protect us from power-hungry individuals. Scientists are allowed, even encouraged, to be zealous for their theories but just as politicians are restrained by laws, scientists are reigned in by the need to persuade their peers using evidence and logic. You cannot point to individual emails selected for their sensationalism and assume a conspiracy. Do you know how influential these people were? how influential these particular emails were? whether anybody was actually excluded from publishing based on these emails? Have you read all the emails? obviously not because they haven't all been released.

Trivializing it will not make this go away. What these emails in fact show is years of intimidation and exclusion of alternate views. The peer review has been hijacked by a handful of scientists that won't allow a differing opinion. They control the peer review process, so the decide what is worthy. Intimidating other scientists and belittling their opinion is not science. That the hockey stick theory was completely debunked, yet very little was said or done about it. The argument of global warming is whether or not it is man caused, and to say there is a consensus when you have so many other qualified scientists disagreeing is disingenuous at best. The fact of the matter is that we are in a cooling trend since 2001, plus the fact that the severe weather cycles that were predicted never came to pass.

I was listening to the bbc on my way home from work today- about the large meeting reguarding the enviroment and global warming and whatnot and they were talking about how with the talks nearing an end NO major countries have made definete plans to donate funds toward developing nations for use in the fight against global warming. So i got to thinking 'supposedly there is this apocalyptic climate change on the horizon and not one single nation is willing to donate money to help those countries that we are supposedly destroying?' odd, why would that be? Then thinking about the various organizations that raise money based on this very fear- carbon credits, alternative energy departments, countries desperate to stop sending all thier money to the middle east, as well as anyone looking for a donation handout that can make people feel guilty for 'destroying our planet'. And quite honestly the most obvious reason seemed to me to be that all of these rich countries know that its a scam.
