On the Glenn Beck radio show yesterday, Mr. Beck played a modernized version of the 11 minute 1961 LP "Ronald Reagan Speaks Out Against Socialized Medicine". In it, Reagan was originally speaking out against Medicare, which as of right now is underfunded (along with Medicaid) by 39 trillion dollars.
Our current president Barack Obama insists that his current health care reform plan (which will cover everybody, not just our seniors and poverty-stricken) be deficit neutral. Right now every man woman and child in American each owe over $191,000 due to the goverment's liabilities it has already placed on us. Do you have the money to cover what has already been promised?
The quote from Margaret Thatcher, first female Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, could not be more relevant today.
"The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money"
Below is a YouTube version of the modernized 1961 Ronald Reagan recording. Maybe we should listen to him this time.

"In it, Reagan was originally speaking out against Medicare, which as of right now is underfunded (along with Medicaid) by 39 trillion dollars."
if you are going to make up figures, at least do some math to try to keep it believable.
39,000,000,000,000
divided by
300,000,000 people in the USA
about $130,000 for EVERY person in the USA
and this makes perfect sense to you?
if EVERY person in the USA applied and was accepted to Medicare, they would ALL have to run up bills equal to a kidney transplant!
don't you just love Conservative math?
Hey walrus, it makes perfect sense. It's underfunded liabilities. There's no way what little's been put in thusfar is paying for all the services to date and its not getting any better. There's no way that what I will pay in Medicare taxes over the course of my life will ever pay for my "Medicare" care. It's a Ponzi scheme that pales in comparison to Bernie Madoff, but the government can get away with it until China calls its bluff.
Thomas says:

Thomas, you are completely right! Let's get rid of Madicare and Medicaid! Spread the word to all republicans to start campaigning on the anti-Medicare, anti-Medicaid platform right away! It would be great if republicans would try to rid America of Medicare and Medicaid! Tell them to start as soon as possible! I'll help you spread the word! "Republicans Want To Get Rid Of Medicare and Medicaid! A Vote For Republicans Is A Vote Against an Ineffective System of Medicare and Medicaid! Tell All Your Friends!"
Walrus- Medicare and Medicaid are part of a broken system that needs reforming and as long as it's reformed without a public option I am pretty much for whatever they need to do to FACILITATE the reform. I give Barack Obama credit for bringing it to the table. I just disagree with how far he wants to go.
Thomas, the title of this piece is "Ronald Reagan spoke out against socialized medicine 38 years ago"
does that sound like wanting to reform it or "never should have been"?...so, if you want to REFORM medicare, then you want it to continue...thus you disagree with Reagan. Do you want Medicare (reformed) or do you want Reagan to be right and we do away with Medicare? Stop playing both sides. Either you agree with Reagan (and want to rid ourselves of Medicare), or you don't (and you think Medicare could be good if reformed). Are you for Medicare or against it? Reagan was TOTALLY against Medicare (reformed or not).
Walrus- Those are asinine statements. We're already committed to Medicare at this point. Let's not make the problem worse, that's all I'm saying, and thus my final statement, "Maybe we should listen to him this time." Nowhere did I state or even imply that we need to abandon Medicare. In the reform, we can attempt to fix Medicare and Medicaid.
you waffled...are you FOR or AGAINST Medicare?
You don't want to be against Medicare, but want to use it as a bad example. If it's the bad example that you believe it to be, stop being politically correct and just say "let's get rid of it!"
If you believe it serves a good purpose and just needs tweeking, then stop using it as a bad example.
Does Medicare serve a good purpose?
If it does, then Obamacare will also serve a good purpose.
YOU keep tying Medicare and Obamacare. Back up both, or turn your back on both. At the very least stop tying both together. Both good or both bad. YOU tied them together.
Again, are you For or Against Medicare? No more waffling. (Reagan was against it. Do YOU think that he was right?)
