RNC Chair Michael Steele
In a statement issued on September 24th, Michael Steele, chairman of the Republican National Committee expressed outrage over the Barack Obama indoctrination video of schoolchildren at the B. Bernice Young Elementary School in Burlington, NJ singing praises to Barack Obama.
"I'm so outraged and stunned by its content...see the indoctrination of our nation's greatest treasure -- our children. In the video, impressionable youngsters at a public school in New Jersey, most of whom are no more than six or seven years old, have been instructed to sing the praises of 'Barack Hussein Obama.' One song is even set to the tune of The Battle Hymn of the Republic. This is the type of propaganda you would see in Stalin's Russia or Kim Jong Il's North Korea. I never thought the day would come when I'd see it here in America."

Were the parents informed that their children were going to be singing Obama's praises? Were they informed about this, so that they could opt their children out? Who authorized this at the school?
Some are now trying to deflect this & say that this recording was unauthorized. IOW, now that people have found out, that is their way of saying that they should have been able to get away with this without anyone knowing about it, & how dare anybody leak this video!
And what is the Jamestown Project role in this? How many other schools are they involved in? Google that & Charisse Carney-Nunes role in this.
The school issued a statement that the video was created during Black History Month to "honor the contributions of African Americans to our country". Black History Month is in February, Obama was sworn in on January 20th. Not a whole lot of 'contributions to honor' at that point. And if that's true, then where's the video 'honoring' Michael Steele, the first African American to become chairman of the Republican National Committee?

Please tell me George W. Bush didn’t get similar songs recorded for him, with his given name. Maybe they just sang George Walker Bush (instead of Barack Hussein Obama), to whatever catchy tune they came up with, perhaps in fact, The Battle Hymn of the Republic.
Michael, this is our president’s actual given name, the one with which he took the oath of office administered by Chief Justice Roberts. Our president’s name is in fact: Barack Hussein Obama. Really, get used to it so you don’t have apoplexy if you hear it more frequently as time moves along. I wouldn’t call it leftist propaganda, I’d call it realistic reporting about what some folks and kids are doing in a manner they feel good about. The mixture of kids in the video is widespread. I imagine their parents similarly support the type of work the school is doing to achieve balance in the kids lives. Get over it. Little kids have sung songs to presidents for ages. Imagine Ike.

I'd be willing to bet, that if I dug far enough I'd probably find some connection between The Jamestown Project and ACORN.

There is no doubt that this is totalitarian indoctrination. These kids did not generate this praise on their own; it was adults who are pulling these strings. This is exactly what we see in totalitarian regimes that brainwash their population from their youth to sing the praises of their supreme leader.
It is perfectly acceptable to hang the picture of the President of the United States in public schools. It is not acceptable to program elementary school children to sing the praises of a man, even the first President of African American descent. The high jacking of the Battle Hymn of the Republic and Jesus Loves the Little Children borders on blaspheme.
If this kind of homage was paid to G. W. Bush during his presidency, people would have been fired and publicly vilified. So much for the double standard when conservatives and liberals are compared.

SharonMcP: Good for you Sharon! We s/w one of the parents who knew nothing about their child being "indoctriated" until the news story broke. Charisse Carney-Nunes is not a teacher at the Bernice Young school in Burlington, NJ; she was hired by the school for this event. His child never came home with anything to memorize, which he found very unusual, because they always have in the past. And, he noted that 6-7 year old can't read a songsheet, so therefore they had to have practiced this a number of times. Nunes read her book "I am barack obama" and then lead the children (w/the help of a teacher or two) singing the two "disgusting" songs.
It is our contention that she posted the YouTube video for the Jamestown Project to promote her book and how well she can "indoctrinate our children" which asks the question: How many other schools has Ms. Nunes had the kids sing the "Mmm, Mmm, mm Barack Hussien Obama - All are equal in HIS sight" - ENOUGH! THIS DOES NOT END HERE!

According to parents who have children in the school, King has long been a fan of Obama, hanging pictures of the president in her school's hallways and touting her trip to his inauguration in the school yearbook.
But get this, a search of public records revealed that King - HASN'T VOTED SINCE 2004!
Someone on another forum brought up a good point and I think its one that should be considered by all 'outlets' reporting on this story. That is, that MSNBC blurred out the faces of the children to protect their identities before placing the video on their site.
Not a problem. This one of 8 skits which also included songs about Presidents Washington and Lincoln. The lyrics were set home to parents for review. No one complained in February. What lyrics do you find offensive.
The same people that whine about a group of 2nd graders singing a song in one school in America, also whine about Obama every day.

Is this inappropriate? Yes. Is it worthy of the coverage and hype it's been given? No.
This is an isolated incident at a single school. Obama had nothing to do with it. The issue is teachers who made a poor decision, not a vast indoctrination conspiracy. There are plenty of incidents of teachers making foolish decisions, yet few get covered to such an extensive degree.
