In an interesting twist of fate, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin may schedule a coffee date. Palin's forthcoming book, Going Rogue, regarding the 2008 presidential election, has stirred political waters and tempers alike. In the book, Palin writes, "Should Secretary Clinton and I ever sit down over a cup of coffee, I know that we would fundamentally disagree on many issues. But my hat is off to her hard work on the 2008 campaign trail. A lot of her supporters think she proved what Margaret Thatcher proclaimed. 'If you want something said, ask a man. If you want something done, ask a woman."

When news of this reached Sec. of State Clinton, she replied, "I've never met her, and I think it would be very interesting to sit down and talk with her. Maybe I can make a case on some of the issues that we disagree on."

Whether or not such a meeting would ever take place remains to be seen. More encouraging than Clinton's diplomatic reply is her apparent willingness to speak with Palin, a move which may grant Palin further political legitimacy in the eyes of her fans. Such willingness, however, would also benefit Clinton, whom many speculate may attempt to run for President again in the next election. If Clinton could come to an understanding with Palin, despite their divergent views on many issues, it would speak well of her abilities as Sec. of State and highlight Clinton as a better presidential candidate than President Obama, whom many are growing disillusioned with, particularly in matters of diplomacy.

"Obviously we're going to hear a lot more from [Palin]  in the upcoming weeks with her book coming out, and I would look forward to having a chance to actually get to meet her" said Clinton to ABC'S "This Week."

When asked whether the media was fair to Palin during the 2008 election, Clinton replied to Stephanopoulos, "Well, you know George, I'll leave that for my book if I ever write another one."
