Officer responds to anti-Obama poster: "It ain't [America] no more"

UPDATE: (from a WND.com Editor's Note) - Earlier reports that Officer Wesley Cheeks Jr. is a police officer were in error. Further investigation has revealed Officer Cheeks is a member of the Fairfax County Public Schools' trained School Security Officer team. To contact the school's security force, e-mail Fred Ellis, the director of safety and security for Fairfax County Public Schools, or Jim McLain, the security coordinator.

On Tuesday, August 25th, at Rep. Jim Moran's (D-VA) town hall meeting in Reston, Va., a protester was told by Officer Wesley Cheeks Jr. that he could not hold up the sign he had.

And the officer's reason? Because he said so.

The real reason? Because the sign depicted one of the now infamous Obama "joker" pictures.

Watch the video below, found on DissentFromDayOne's YouTube channel.

The protester continued to ask why he could not hold his sign up, even though there were other people displaying their own signs, and he was repeatedly met with hollow "because I said so" type responses. The officer even went so far as to say that he could charge him with trespassing or in his words, "whatever I want to charge you with."

The protester responded, "This is America. This used to be America."

What did the officer have to say to that?

"It ain't no more, okay?"

No, Mr. Cheeks. It is not okay.

Another Reverand Wright follower who of course never actually heard Reverand Wright SAY anything racist...

What do I mean by this... I don't know... other than to say that I don't believe ANYTHING that bastard Obama says about his plans for America!

Looks like a racist officer of the law to me. Cheeks definitely overstepped his bounds and has no right to make a citizen put down any poster in a protest. The "it ain't no more" comment by cheeks makes me wonder about all obamacrats. That sounded very anti-american to me.

That this protestor was singled out, even after the protestor looked around & said that there were other protestors there with posters, shows that this black cop did not like that Obama Joker poster at all.

The video feed shows the protestor looking around & saying what about that person over there, & that person over there & so on. The cop says that his is different because it has a picture on it. What a bunch of BS. The cop was angry because of the Obama Joker on front of it. The cop looks to me like a racist.

The cop is supposed to be impartial. He isn't being impartial. I can bet that were that a Bush Joker poster that the cop would have been singing a different tune.

I am so sick of the double-standard. There were posters of Bush as the Joker, of him as a vampire, posters that had anti-Bush foul language on them at anti-Bush protests, etc.

A young Palestinian man comes out with the first Obama Joker poster & the MSM ramps up the race-baiting on Obama's behalf.

Where was your outrage when the Bush People were arresting married couple for wearing t-shirts with anti-Bush slogans? All you people see is race. All your outrage is race related, it's called freedom of speech people. And because you did not defend it when it was anti-bush, and all of a sudden you do now, all I can say is "too bad, so sad". Suck it up and take your lumps.

    Michelle,

EPIC FAIL on your part. The MSM continually makes things about race on Obama's behalf.

At the start of Obama's administration, the MSM said that those who were opposed to Obama's policies were racists.

They have said that the Obama Joker posters are racist. The first Obama Joker poster the MSM said was racist even though it was done by a Palestinian youth.

The MSM said that perhaps the town hall meeting protestors that are opposed to Obama's health care reform are racists.

The MSM failed to report that one of the guys carrying a gun to a town hall protest was black because it doesn't fit their story line.

The MSM said that the word Socialism under the first Obama Joker poster was racist. The word Socialism is racist? Nope.

The MSM would be all over this story here if things were reversed.

None of the things that the MSM has reported as being racist are racist.

People are tired of the MSM continually race-baiting on Obama's behalf.

Mr. Cheeks should have let that man keep his sign. In fact, all idiots should be allowed to carry their "sign." That way, they're easier to identify in a crowd.

    Sh,

Now that the shoe is on the other foot, those who carry the Obama Joker signs are suddently "idiots."

Yeah, I'm sure that you felt the same way about all of those who carried the "Bush is Hitler," "Bush Joker" signs and so on. And there were far more of them that did that then than are carrying Obama Joker signs and so on now.

And don't waste anyones time saying that you felt the same about them - that you thought they were idiots then, too.

No actually, Bill, I didn't see those signs, but I am sure they were out there.
I don't think anyone who attends those meetings, can be taken seriously, on either side of the debate, when they bring things or do things, that antagonize the situation. I think people like that are being idiotic, and it solves nothing.
    Sorry that you disagree.

Blacks on balance don't even think OJ Simpson should have gone to jail for murder. They are used to getting the law twisted however they choose just by repeatedly screaming racism to whites. This has got to stop NOW!

Why do you think that is captain Steve? Have you ever been discriminated against? I think by your comment, the answer is No.

sh. . .I have been repeatedly damaged by racism and discrimination. Every decent member of society is damaged when society condones reverse racism. I grew up in LA. There are now many neighborhoods that I cannot safely walk down the street because of failed lefty lib policies.

I agree, but unfortunately as long as racism exists, reverse racism will exist. Take a look at some of the comments on here, and not just this story. It's deplorable.
I don't know the whole story here, or why the officer told him to put the sign away. Did you ever think that maybe that was what he was told to do? Or that there may be more to the story than the minute long clip showed? It seems to me, that the majority of people responding to this clip, never even gave it a second thought, and just assumed he was engaging in reverse racism. If it were a white officer, then he would be labled a "liberal socialist" or some other derogatory term, but certainly not a racist.
I am sorry that you feel unsafe, but do you feel unsafe because those streets have criminals on them, or African-Americans on them? You should know as well as I do, that many people that have posted on the story feel that the two terms are synonymous.

sh. . .I agree with some points, but nobody seamed to talk about what Officer Crowley was taught re Professor Gates, or how the officer may had to consider hostage situations etc. Obama immediately jumped to the racism conclusion with the "he acted stupidly" comment. Like you just did too; acting stupidly only seams to get the benefit of the doubt when it's a minority.

I actually hold minorities in a HIGHER esteem than most lefty libs, and therefore I say they shouldn't get affirmative action, free passes or quotas. I agree with MLK in this.

Who knows what the peeps here have thought. Not really fair for you assume they haven't been thoughtful.

As far as LA I didn't mention race for a reason, but the most dangerous places are black, next is Mexican, a small percentage are white and Asian. No prejudice in that statement, just fact.

Now, I give this particular officer the benefit of a doubt, because I don't know what happened, and with a barely a minute of tape to demonstrate, I hardly think there's enough evidence to call him a racist...though, he may well be. As far as the other officer goes, put yourself in the professor's shoes for a moment. What if the professor were white, and the officer was African-American, would you see it differently then? All I am saying is, I get why the professor was mad, and I get that the Officer Crowley had a job to do, but, he had an obligation to make sure that the arrest was just, and he is trained to do so. If he does make a mistake, it isn't likely due to bad training...it's likely due to bad judgement. Arresting someone, is quite an extended procedure, and I am sure there was plenty of time to clear things up if the officer had wanted to.
Racism will go away, when we make it go away. If we must classify people, then why can't we all be stupidists?

Will we hear from Obama that this officer "acted stupidly," like Obamka did in the GateGate incident?

Nope, even though the officer said that he could charge the protestor with whatever he wanted to. Guess why...

That isn't an officer who wants "to protect and serve," that's bullying.

That's the cop saying that he can take the law into his own hands whenever he wants to. Hurray for free speech in Obamerica!

Security Officers do NOT have police powers. They can call the real police officers.

And Security Officers (much less real police officers) do not have the power to make it up as they go along. And none of them have the power to charge someone with whatever they want to.
