In light of recent events in the Northern Nevada area, I feel it’s important to venture off the “Political” topics I typically cover here just a bit…
For any residents not currently aware, the Sparks Police Dept. recently released the sketch of a man who is believed to have been stalking a local 12 year-old girl.
On October 14th, the young girl was walking to school at approximately 7:15am on the 700 block of 7th Street when she was approached by a man in a white cargo van. The suspect told the girl to get into the van so he could “take her to school.” After refusing twice, the suspect angrily drove away.
Approximately one week later, the same girl was approached again on her walk to school, this time while on the 500 block of E Street. After again refusing to enter the same suspect’s van, the suspect told her he “would find her again,” and proceeded to drive away.
On November 1st, the same girl was walking on the 1100 block of Prater Way at approximately 6:50pm, when she was approached for a third time by the same van. The suspect told her he “knew he would find her.”

Suspect’s Physical Description:
He is said to be a white man, approximately 38-40 years old, between 6’0 & 6’2, and roughly 220-230lbs. He has shortly cut brown hair & a goatee. He also has a circular scar roughly dime-sized on his lower left cheek, & a birthmark or mole near the outer-corner of his right eye.
He is reported to have been wearing blue sunglasses & a dark ball cap, but it is unclear from reports during which incident he was wearing this attire.

Description of Vehicle:
The vehicle is described as a white cargo van with NV “Sunset” license plates & a dark interior. There is a brown cover on the dashboard.
The partial plate that was given is: __ __ __ - F __ __
The ride side of the van has a discoloration, likely “primer,” near the middle. There is a rectangular sticker with white writing on the rear bumper. Both the front fender & the rear bumper are metallic silver. The left rear bumper has minor collision damage & a smashed taillight.
There are no side windows, although there is a small, darkly-tinted window at the rear of the van.
The rear of the van has two doors with horizontal handles which are painted white. Both the driver & passenger door have metallic silver horizontal handles.
The rims of the cargo van are faded/dirty silver with well-used tires.

It is unproven that the suspect has any sexual motivation for stalking the young girl, however in the best interest of the citizens of Washoe County, I feel it’s important to link to a database compiled in August of this year which lists the Tier 3 Registered Sex Offenders for the county.
Better safe than sorry.
I also feel it important to note that on the list of Tier 3 Sex Offenders, 6 of them have no known addresses & are simply listed as “homeless.”

A Tier 3 Sexual Offender has been deemed a “risk to the public” for having a high risk of recidivism.

**Common sense dictates that while these offenders have been convicted of sexual crimes, their addresses & information is provided to INFORM the public & should not be used to subject them to harassment.
