A renewed meaning for Independence Day

It’s difficult to put into words many of the emotions that have overcome a sizeable amount of citizens in America recently, but particularly in this last year. There has been no end to the inflammatory language escaping the frothing mouths of the Mainstream Media as many strong-willed Americans peacefully “call out” to the Government, reminding “them” they work for “We, the people…”

I found, this year, that what’s typically a time of celebration—BBQ’s, pool parties & fireworks—took on a somewhat different tone. A refresher course for many who have put out of their minds the true meaning of America’s Independence Day.
 
I had originally decided to opt-out of covering the local T.E.A. party on July 4th, but not because I was unbelieving in the purpose…I was afraid of seeing the masses that I had seen while attending the April T.E.A. parties dwindle. I was afraid that not enough people would sacrifice time away from their lives to make an appearance. I was afraid that I would be disappointed—disheartened & alone.
 
And yet, when I arrived just prior to the event’s commencement, I saw the exact opposite as the amount of people quickly grew in number. It was a mixed-emotions gathering of honest, hardworking Nevadans & their families all coming together behind one theme—the preservation of the America so many of us have had the privilege of growing up in.
 
I was incredulous to find that a few Lake Tahoe, California citizens were also in attendance.
 
Young & old alike united behind one purpose; people of all “colors” & walks of life; veterans & individuals who don’t believe in war; political ideologies that the MSM would have you believe can’t stand in the same room let alone find common purpose—Americans, together.
 
The event began with an invocation that gave many in the audience the temporary comfort needed for facing the paramount challenges that we all are aware lie ahead, the Pledge of Allegiance led by a 5-year old boy who renewed hope in my heart for all Americans (the complete & utter opposite of this posting on the DailyKos), the somber yet potent notes of The Star Spangled Banner sung by a young team leader from a local church, & then came the reading of the Declaration of Independence—words that are well known to inspire served a dual-purpose in reminding the audience of the reality of today’s affairs…the government that once served its citizens is now forcing their will upon them.
 
There were T-Shirts & other apparel by local businesses, bumper stickers (Uh oh! Someone notify Department of Homeland Security…), & sign painting, but most importantly—conversation. Groups of people in which, prior to the T.E.A. parties, had likely not known each other were conversing about the state of America.
 
So while the dissenting & monotonous voices of the Mainstream Media were loud & clear with “racist” & homosexual “tea-bagger” references being common choices, the truth is…every individual that attended their local tea party stood there for every other American too.
 
They stood there for Americans that chose to spend their 4th of July trying to put the economic issues of the country & the excessive government intrusion out of their minds.
 
They stood there for Americans that believe these policies & the spending will have little effect on their lives.
 
They stood their for Obama supporters because they are Americans too.
 
They stood there for a father who notified the world of his son’s sacrifice for American freedom…
 
“On Independence Day, a few hours ago, they killed my son, Aaron in Afghanistan.”
 
These peaceful, un-bigoted masses stood in a truly bi-partisan manner, putting people before government—defending America’s foundation.
 
And so I believe Abraham Lincoln said it best during his Speech at Independence Hall, February 22, 1861—
 
“…but something in that Declaration giving liberty, not alone to the people of this country, but hope to the world for all future time. It was that which gave promise that in due time the weights should be lifted from the shoulders of all men, and that all should have an equal chance. This is the sentiment embodied in that Declaration of Independence…”
 
These are the freedoms we must defend, not just for America’s sake & for our children, but for all the children across the world who hold out hope that oppression & tyranny are only temporary.
 
For everyone that believes there is something better.
 
For Aaron & all the others who have lost their lives as they do their part overseas.
 
We must continue uniting behind a common purpose to make our voices heard, representing the country we all know & love—one that my family came to for a better way of life & more opportunities for their children & grandchildren. For me.  
 
One we must protect from assault within through misrepresentation. And yesterday...well yesterday was simply another page in a book of what is to come.
 
So as I again contemplate the meaning of American freedom on a very personal level, the haunting words from the Concord Hymn come to mind…
 
By the rude bridge that arched the flood,
     Their flag to April's breeze unfurled;
Here once the embattled farmers stood;
     And fired the shot heard round the world.

The foe long since in silence slept;
     Alike the conqueror silent sleeps,
     And Time the ruined bridge has swept
     Down the dark stream that seaward creeps.

On this green bank, by this soft stream,
     We place with joy a votive stone,
That memory may their deeds redeem,
     When, like our sires, our sons are gone.

O Thou who made those heroes dare
     To die, and leave their children free, --
Bid Time and Nature gently spare
     The shaft we raised to them and Thee.

    Good job Reno Tea Partiers!

    Did you ever wonder where the money for things like the subversion of the world's immigration laws may come from? Also, recently I’m seeing an ad campaign, using money we don’t have, to sell us on a new health plan.

    It seems to me as long as we allow people to print up fiat money there will be no place in the world where freedom can flourish.

    If the Globalist oppose your efforts, paid for with real hard earned money, all they have to do is fire up the presses and shovel the money to any group that will oppose you.

    Not only that but it seems they do it in such a way that the money to achieve THEIR goals is borrowed from them. Then we pay interest to a group outside of our country, like the Federal Reserve, on the creation and borrowing of OUR OWN money.

    IN ESSENCE THEY BEAT US WITH OUR OWN STICK!
