Commentary
Not too long ago, General Stanley McChrystal was the darling of the Left.
Democrat Congressman Glenn Nye of Virginia echoed what everyone else on the Democrat side of the aisle felt about Obama's hand-picked General: "The United States has a difficult task ahead of us in Afghanistan, and it's clear that General McChrystal is the right man for the job."
Since then, it's doubtful if Obama would entrust McChrystal with making sure cigarette butts were cleaned up from the Pentagon parking lot.
In light of the attitudes of some of McChrystal's subordinates towards some of Obama's underlings, it's a fair assessment that Obama lost the confidence of his own hand-picked General and some of that very same General's Staff.
And The Changing Status Of Petraeus
Also, not too long ago, September 20, 2007 to be exact, the United States Senate voted "To express the sense of the Senate that General David H. Petraeus, Commanding General, Multi-National Force-Iraq, deserves the full support of the Senate and strongly condemn personal attacks on the honor and integrity of General Petraeus and all members of the United States Armed Forces."
The amendment passed 72-25 with 3 not voting. Every single Nay votes were from Democrats. And guess who two of the three not voting were?
Senators Barack Obama and Joe Biden.
Amazingly enough, just nine days prior, then-Senator Obama had this to say to General Petraeus in regards to the troop surge in Iraq, "I think the surge had some impact as I suggested. I would hope it would, given the sacrifices and loss that have been made. I would argue that the impact has been relatively modest, given the investment. How long will this take? And at what point do we say enough?"
Just a few short days ago, the very same Barack H. Obama stated that General Petraeus is the individual who will "allow us the momentum and leadership that we need to succeed."
For Your Consideration
Obama's own hand-picked General lost confidence in his Commander-in-Chief. Why would anyone believe that the man who Senator Obama went out of his way to publicly humiliate, would magically have a greater degree in confidence in him?
Yes, there are Obama supporters in uniform. But for the most part, from Private/Seaman to General/Admiral, Obama has simply lost (or never had) the confidence of those in the Armed Forces.
And no amount of soft-headed liberal wishful thinking or media spin will change that.
The wheels on the Oba-Bus are falling off.
