Leading national research and consulting firm Wilson Research Strategies (WRS) has released their January 2009 "National Political Environment Assessment."
Here is a summary of their findings:
Barack Obama Presidency begins with voter expectations at an unprecedented high level.
*The downside of running such a successful campaign is that voters now expect Obama to bring "change they can believe in." *In general, voters, including large segments of Republicans, are willing to give Obama the benefit of the doubt, at least initially. *How obama uses his political capital will determine how long he retains this support and positive image.
Voters are still concerned about the economy
* They believe the deficit is a "real number" that has direct effect on them, and are concerened about government spending driving it up. *Conversely, they are concerned about jobs and employment, and are comfortable with government spending if it will create more job opportunities.
