Reheated Coffee: Dirty Harry to the Republican Rescue?
The pressure continues to build on Republican State Senator Glenn Coffee. Nearly three weeks after the AP broke the story about the Pro Tempore’s late federal taxes, the bad news keeps on coming for Coffee.
FOX 25 reporter Nick Winkler did this report last night on Coffee’s growing image problem. And sources tell me that State Sen. Harry "the hat" Coates is attempting to capitalize on Coffee’s problems.
Reports continue to surface that Coffee’s caucus is solidly behind the pro tem, but others discount that idea, since it’s reported that Sen. Harry Coates and perhaps two other Republican senators have had enough of Coffee’s twisting in the wind and are attempting to put together enough Republicans to oust Coffee. It would take at least four Republicans siding with Senate Democrats to oust Coffee. It’s believed Coates has three members in his disgruntled unit, and a feverish search is on for that crucial fourth member.
Other sources tell me that more problems for Coffee are about to surface, and those issues are not related to the tax issues. News9’s Dave Jordan’s recent story on possible prison closures is an example of heightened media scrutiny of Coffee, and there seems to be no end in sight for the heat.
