That's the question that is on everybodys mind as we approach the
coming 2010 Mayoral race in New Orleans.Ray Nagin who rode into office
capturing 68% of white voters has shifted gears since hurricane katrina
and now is political force that must be dealt with if
you want to persuade black voters.Mayor Nagin has shifted gears a few times
over the years since he graduated from O. Perry Walker H.S. in Algiers
and lived in a neighborhood called the "cut off".There is also a chance
that Ray Nagin may seek a 3rd term in office as New Orleans Mayor 2010 ,he has over $500,0000
saved up in campaign funds and his recent talk about the race relations problems
in the city has me thinking he may play his white fright card again. The timing of the Chevron building
purchase seems to coincide with the thought of Nagin seeking a third term.He seems to have shaken off the Katrina blues as
of late and maybe he is ready to switch gears and pitch a shut out like he use to do on the mound. The whole katrina thing just
magnified his weaknesses as it would have done to anybody that was use to being surrounded by a corporate culture like he
had at Cox.Maybe the lefty is ready to deliver on some of the promises he made back in 2002 that got so many white voters
hopes up.,maybe the "chocalate city" quip left a bad taste in voters mouths,we will see,one thing is for sure,New Orleans
voters have short memories and they do forgive and forget.
The lefty with the fierce curve ball went on to start at Tuskegee Institute and then after working for GM
for some years started working his way up the ladder with Cox Enterprises and
developed close ties with city hall because Cox was a major employer .He
one the mayor's race with no political experience in 2002 against Pennington
who had Attorney Trevor Bryan and campaign chairman William Jefferson in his corner , Mayor Nagin was partners
with Morial side kick Roy Rodney,Pampe Barre(decent poker player),and John Georges as owners of the New Orleans Brass
hockey team .Former Mayor Marc Morial lost in his bid to seek a third term so the 2002
election was anybodys for the taking.I do not think Morial publically endorsed anybody in this election, pretty much
caught in the middle..New Orleans murder rate was down 25% and Richard Pennington had a 85% approval
rating.Looking back at the race and how it played out I think the two candidates opted for a let the best man win sort of race
until things heated up late in the race. The Pennington camp accused Ray "Reagan" of falsifying his resume and the Nagin
camp accused Pennington of beating his wife.Pretty good stuff if you ask me.These boys put on a show.To be continued.......

Itthis some kind of JOKE web site - Nagin doesnt have a chance in H@ll to get ANYTHING - people are tired of all this corruption - he hasnt endorsed a winning candidate since he took office - where do you get your information from a Dixie Beer bottle
Mayor Nagin has enough trouble to worry about right now other than running for a third term. He will be in a term however, a prison term as he is going straight to jail for getting free renovation work on his house paid for by certain contractors.
The winner of the Mayors race will be the candidate who can raise cash and right now there isn't one candidate that can do that except Fielkow or Landrieu.
Local media is reporting that federal investigators are currently speaking to 2 CH employees. Interesting development?
what is really going on down here in city hall. How can Mayor Nagin run for a 3rd term.
I thought you only could do two terms. thank you.
@allison Morrison If you think a Federal Investigation is going to be finished before the next Mayors election then you are wrong. If you think Nagin will lose his "STROKE" with black voters in that amount of time then you are double wrong.
@LaShawn Maybe ,Maybe not but I would really like to see him go to prison for getting his grass cut, some trips, and a couple meals.Thats probably better then any Mayor in New Orleans history, including Moon Landieu.Maybe you are just trying to create something thats not there. It happens all the time.
@Polly Noble He would have to run a city wide vote to change the city charter for 3rd term like Morial tried in 2002
Got something to say?
