Lets not beat around the bush U.S. Attorney Jim Letten has Ray Nagin smack
dab in his cross hairs and for Nagin that is a dangerous place to be.Jim Letten
has the resources and the man power to really find out whats going on in city
hall and the e mails may have opened the federal door to see what else they
can find. Just like when you were in high school and you were stopped for a
simple traffic ticket and the police find something else in the car, thats really
what this investigation is all about. The e mails are serious but trust me the
Feds are looking for something a little more substantial. With less than a year
left in his administration New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin is involved in a
controversy that will not go away. The FBI has dispatched a team of its best
forensic computer investigators to try and solve the mystery of the
mayors' missing e-mails.Even if you give Nagin the benefit of the doubt it
does not take a genius to see that someone orchestrated
e-mail gate from inside city hall. The victim of the plan was New Orleans
Councilmember Stacy Head which to tell you the truth Stacy has a big mouth
so I am glad that she has closed her trap in recent weeks. So whats Nagin's end game.It seems like the walls
are closing in around him ,his friends in washington that he has alluded to can not really help him in this matter.
One interesting fact is Nagin's Director of Communications Ceeon Quiett previous job was in Detroit working for former
Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick who was thrown in jail while in office. She was his advisor and cabinet member. If Ceeon gives Nagin
the same advice as Kwame then Nagin maybe in some serious trouble. All this recent political posturing got me to
thinking, will Jim Letten run for city office when he is done,he would have instant name recognition.

Excellent take on the latest City Hall scandal. Any ideas on what Nagin was trying to cover up? My guess is the tech contracts and kickbacks. Certainly, it had to be worth more to Nagin than getting his grass cut and paid for by the tech group. Only the beginning...
@Lilly This is a historic time in New Orleans Mayoral history. My intuition tells me that Ray Nagin has set up a financial arrangement to receive compensation (get paid) AFTER he leaves office.Whether that be in the form of stocks and bonds or a position in a company who knows, thats common,BUT if FEDS can show QUID PRO QUO,(you do this then Ill do this later on), then it could go to court as bribing public official. The feds will not find a money trail larger then the lawn care services. From what it looks like this is an elaborate scheme which you probably see more in bigger cities like Atlanta were it is not so noticeable , since the hurricane the community has demanded that the city council examine everything Naagin does. They are looking at Mark St. Pierre, Jimmy Goodson $156,000 annual salary.Nagins clean for now ,the feds want to get something on the other 3 so they will SQUEAL incriminating evidence on Nagin. With e-mails gone that takes a little pressure off of the three.
@Lilly What I meant by historic is usually politicians in New Orleans do not wait to make their money. They get it right while in office or their family gets it.Morial's uncle and aunt were making money while he was in office. They paid for it.but this is first time that I can remember that a mayor waited. The deal with his brother in law was probably his wifes idea.So give Mayor Nagin a little credit for being a little more polished and corporate savy then preceding mayors. The sad thing is like I said before is that Nagin was in a FUNK since the hurricane and probably just started coming out of that.I can start to see a little of what people saw in him back in 2002.The hurricane just blew up his whole operation.
