Renee Gill Pratt and Mose Jefferson push for trial expediency in August
There's an old saying that when you run with the big dogs you might get
fleas. That is certainly the case with Renee Gill Pratt former Louisiana legislature
and city councilmember. This case amazes me because of the complexity and
depth New Orleans politicians will go through to create money streams for
themselves. The fact of the matter is that there is just not
that much money floating
around in the New Orlean's economy to support Renee Gill Pratt and all the other
players. It does not take a genius to know that. Although we do have a few
prominent families ,unlike my birth place in upstate
New York we do not have anything close to such old
money such as the Vanderbilts in the north. The U.S. Attorney Jim Letten
has bee Johny on the spot
lately with his team of federal investigators that have
manage to corral some of the New Orleans areas
flashiest characters ,from Pampe to the councilman
he bribed ,Letten's office has looked into
any type of quid pro quo
fast money scheme and were they find violations they have moved swiftly
and laid down the hammer. Many expected a ex-Mayor Morial indictment after the feds kicked in Jacques Morial's door but the
investigations lost steam but they did manage to run Morial out of town .Due to financial concerns (AKA
lawyer fees) Pratt and Mose Jefferson brother of William Jefferson want this trial over as soon as possible, which I would not
recommend but maybe they smell the writing on the wall and want to get it over with .Latest on David Vitter
