Same-sex marriage/states legal arguments update

Same-sex marriage argument debate legal

Same-sex marriage debate and states arguments is a hot topicand is not going away.Obama ran on a platform promising to repeal

the Defense of Marriage Act,as of yet Obama has done little to pushforward legislation.Obama is officially against same-sex marriage but wants

to  make a few changes to the DOMA.Most conservatives are against same-sex marriage citing various arguments based on social harm and moral values they say would be

effected.Advocates of same-sex marriages want the same legal benefitsavailable to heterosexual couples. This is a very fragile and complicated issuethat must be studied from an economic and sociological stand point. The

same-sex marriage debate and legal laws have created more stress on theLGBT(lesbian, gay,bi sexual, trans gender) community. The current administration also wants to repeal the "Don't ask ,Don't tell" legislation used in the army to ban gay

recruits.Personally I am opposed to same-sex marriage not because it is wrong or rightbut because it sends the wrong messages to young children.I do not think it is a good time for this ,maybe down the road we

can take a closer look at it but I think it is not the right time to do a federal change.Current same-sex marriage states were theunion is fully legal are Massachusetts,Iowa, and Connecticut.Vermont will except same-sex marriage on September

1,2009,in Maine September 14,2009 if not public veto,New Hampshire January 1,2010,California has repealed,New York andWashington D. C will recognize but not perform same-sex marriages.

The only wrong message that abolishing same sex marriage would send to children is that they cannot be true to who they are, that they ARE wrong for wanting something different than the status quo. I don't see how a couple showing their love and support for one another could ever send the wrong messages to children.

I think we have to be careful in moving to fast with this legislation
