I recently received an e-mail from Congressman Joseph "Anh" Coa detailing what he has done since taking office. From the looks of it The United States first Vietnamese American elected to Congress is off to a very good start.I found his e-mail very encouraging and it provided me with lots of information, the total opposite of some of the New Orlean's areas elected officials .Even though Congressman Cao has been in the news recently for owning run down property I feel that he will take care of that situation in due time.
In electing Cao over Congressman William "Bill" Jefferson in Deceber 2008 , Louisiana voted out of office the first African-American it had sent to the U.S. House of Representative since Reconstruction.
Joseph "Anh" Cao, who was 41 years old when elected, born in Vietnam, one of seven siblings. He came to the United States, when he was eight years old, as Saigon was falling. His father served in the South Vietnam army, spent seven years in a prisoner-of-war camp and now is confined to a wheel chair.

He is certainly less embattled than his predecessor. That speaks volumes of New Orleans in and of itself. He certainly has an opportunity to be a "rising star".
Yes he does Arlene, even though some criticize his public speaking abilities
