(Video) Jackboot to the throat--FDA claims citizens have no right of access to certain foods

In yet another arrogant display of the federal government's jackboot to the throat of America and of its troubling disregard for the rights of citizens, the Food and Drug Administration now claims that Americans have no fundamental inherent right of access to certain foods.

The agency also claims that Americans do not have a fundamental right to grow their own food, to sell it as they see fit, or to engage in contractual agreements with other citizens in forming food coops.

Neighborhood food coops, such as this one, The Lots O'Greens, in Detroit, would be banned under new FDA rules. (AP Photo/Carlos Osorio).

This direct, frontal assault on the U.S. Constitution, the rights of ordinary citizens, and the long-established American way of life is the result of a case involving the sale and transporting of raw milk across state lines.

As yet another example of the inherent Fascism of this Administration, the mega grocery industry and the large diary corporations are cavorting with the federal government to get certain types of foods banned, to limit access to foods that would impact the large corporations at their bottom line, and to restrict the liberties of Americans by an out-of-control government that is drunk on its own power.

The complete summary and explanation of the circumstances that led to the FDA's assertions can be found here.

Regardless of how the populace feels about raw milk, this issue has far-reaching implications.  The FDA wishes to dictate to the citizens what they can and cannot eat.  And this issue has absolutely nothing to do with the anti-junk food bandwagon.  They want to restrict you from access to healthy items as well, so that the large dairy corporations and mega-food and grocery industries can form a monopoly--all with the blessing and enforcement of the federal government.

The fact that this mindset even exists within the halls of government is disturbing.  After all of the battles liberty-minded Americans have been through in the last 18 months, we are now forced to defend our right to grow food in our backyards.

Do the jackbooted thugs of this Fascist regime know absolutely no limit to their unbridled power?  The arrogance is astounding, as the following video explains.

The Obama Administration, yet again, proves that it has the jackboot on the throats of the citizens.

Really, how long will it be before these "inspectors" and other enforcers of federal law end being shot as they try to shut down places like this?

The Federal government laid claim to the power to stop individuals form growing their own food in the 1940's under the administration of FDR as a part of the war effort and rationing. I first read about it in Rose Wilder Lane's book: The Discovery of Freedom: Man's Struggle Against Authority. from this article:Publication: The Independent Review
    Author: Beito, David T
    Date published: October 1, 2010
The ideals of liberty, individualism, and self-reliance have rarely had a more enthusiastic champion than Rose Wilder Lane. A columnist and popular author, she held firm to these beliefs during the New Deal and World War II era, when faith in big government was at high tide. Through her book The Discovery of Freedom ([1943] 1984a), she became a key transitional figure from the Old Right of the 1930s to the modern libertarian movement.
Lane's second foray into direct action {her first was in response to an attempt by the state to silence her right to free speech. A great and funny anecdote! Look it up!) was a one-woman protest against rationing. Her method was to become almost self-sufficient on her three-acre farm in Connecticut. "If a person admits government has die right to say if he can eat," she declared, "there is no liberty left." She raised her own hogs, cows, and chickens, grew her own vegetables, made eight hundred jars of preserves, and used honey as a substitute for sugar. Her only money income was the $60 per month she received for her columns in the Courier. She boasted that self-sufficiency allowed her to earn a living by writing fiction. It also left her income so low, she happily advertised, that she no longer had to pay taxes to the federal government (Sheboygan Press, April 4, 1944).

Government-sponsored ads, radio shows, posters and pamphlet campaigns urged the American people to comply. With a sense of urgency, the campaigns appealed to America to contribute by whatever means they had, without complaint. The propaganda was a highly effective tool in reaching the masses.

Rationing regulated the amount of commodities that consumers could obtain. Sugar rationing took effect in May 1943 with the distribution of "Sugar Buying Cards." Registration usually took place in local schools. Each family was asked to send only one member for registration and be prepared to describe all other family members. Coupons were distributed based on family size, and the coupon book allowed the holder to buy a specified amount. Possession of a coupon book did not guarantee that sugar would be available. Americans learned to utilize what they had during rationing time.

While some food items were scarce, others did not require rationing, and Americans adjusted accordingly. "Red Stamp" rationing covered all meats, butter, fat, and oils, and with some exceptions, cheese. Each person was allowed a certain amount of points weekly with expiration dates to consider. "Blue Stamp" rationing covered canned, bottled, frozen fruits and vegetables, plus juices and dry beans, and such processed foods as soups, baby food and ketchup. Ration stamps became a kind of currency with each family being issued a "War Ration Book." Each stamp authorized a purchase of rationed goods in the quantity and time designated, and the book guaranteed each family its fair share of goods made scarce, thanks to the war.

Rationing also was determined by a point system. Some grew weary of trying to figure out what coupon went with which item, or how many points they needed to purchase them, while some coupons did not require points at all.

In addition to food, rationing encompassed clothing, shoes, coffee, gasoline, tires, and fuel oil. With each coupon book came specifications and deadlines. Rationing locations were posted in public view. Rationing of gas and tires strongly depended on the distance to one's job. If one was fortunate enough to own an automobile and drive at the then specified speed of 35 mph, one might have a small amount of gas remaining at the end of the month to visit nearby relatives.

Rationing resulted in one serious side effect: the black market, where people could buy rationed items on the sly, but at higher prices. The practice provoked mixed reactions from those who banded together to conserve as instructed, as opposed to those who fed the black market's "subversion and profiteering." For the most part, black marketeers dealt in clothing and liquor in Britain, and meat, sugar and gasoline in the United States.

You'll find it under conspiracy....but this is no conspiracy, it has been implemented in the E.U. and is on it's way here via the heavy hand and backroom agreements done by OUR government and the U.N.....much akin to Hillary's recent U.S. small arms agreement with the U.N. !

Bill--Well, the EPA already acts as if you have no private property. Property rights are trampled upon constantly by government, and some big corporations (such as Walmart) use government to condemn private property, get it confiscated by local government, and then sold to Walmart for a steal so that the local government can made a windfall off the tax revenue generated by one of their super-stores.

The EPA also will prevent property owners from using their own land if the jackbooted thugs of the federal government decide there is an 'endangered species' in the creek that runs on your property. This madness has got to stop and yesterday was not soon enough.

First - How much business do we really thing that the raw milk people are getting? Does it really make sense that they would be a threat to the large dairies?
Secondly - Google - Raw milk and read some of the diseases that are communicable. Listeria, TB, Rabies, staph, - all which can cause epidemics as they are hugely contagious.
If someone uses Raw milk in producing food (cheese for example) and sells it to a local grocery - then I could unknowingly expose myself to any of these diseases by eating these products.

I see your point about the interference and the control but I am really much more comfortable knowing that the food I buy in the grocery is safe from disease. I do recognize that there have been some problems - peanut butter for example but for the most part - safe.

Getting upset over an FDA safety measure for our food consumption just seems like we might be shooting ourselves in the foot in the long run.

lg--I think you missed the entire point and the broad picture. This is not about unhealthy stuff getting into the food supply in large chains. We are talking about private citizens doing things they feel is best for them and their families. Since when is growing and selling one's own food grown on their own property any threat whatsoever to anyone? Get real.

As for the raw milk. Do you honestly think that intelligent people are not going to take necessary precautions before consuming things that could be contaminated? And I would wager that the antibiotics, pesticides, hormones, and other harmful ingredients added to foods and milk are much more harmful than what you are talking about here.

It really is about freedom and personal choices. Big grocery chains and large diaries do not have a right to dictate to me what to eat or drink. Neither does the FDA.

Ig....did you get upset when the Obama appointed Health and Human Services CZAR Ms. Kathlene Sebelius ordered the F.D.A. to lift their ban on the adjuvants THIMERASOL and SQUALENE , and allowed these FEDERALLY BANNED adjuvant to be used in the h1n1 swine flu vaccinations. Did you get upset when she helped usher through legislation that prevents anyone from suing the federal government or the drug/vaccine manufactures for any side affects cause by a drug or vaccination....this includes DEATH !I would much prefer and trust the food bought directly from a farmer or a road side stand than I would the processed food from a grocery store....read the chemicals on the labels of the food your buying ! All of these federally approved processed foods contain chemicals that will kill you in the long run. I drank raw milk on my grandparents farm when I was growing up. My grandparents and my mother drank it all of their lives with absolutely no problem !More fed hype and fed control we don't need !

You got it right Bill, but Hillary's recent U.S. small arms agreement with the U.N. will have your guns confiscated before they come to "inspect" your garden. Folks, we are at the brink of losing our country. November 2010 and 2012 could be our last chance to get congress and the administration back operating under the constitution. The Liberals are nuts. There are situations at fairs, school and church functions where potluck is the norm, double trouble if it is made at home and transported to the public, but Libbys feel that unless the food has been inspected first by government inspectors for contamination and temperature conditions, allergens in the ingredients etc.....that it should not be fit for human consumption to the public.
They are afraid if someone gets sick eating it, that a lawsuit will result against the organization.
To that I say, it was extremely rare anyone got sick eating food prepared by home cooks. If they did, most likely it was from overeating.

The corrupt character of the FDA and its emphasis on protecting business interests rather than consumer health and safety is rooted in the GHW Bush administration, not in Obama's. He has inherited an FDA board whose members are all been beholden to the large biotechs or pharmaceuticals. This is not a liberal-conservative issue, and CODEX is decidedly not a liberal group. Rather it is one of distortion of "science" for the sake of special interests. Both parties have been remiss in allowing this to go on. Everyone in Congress should be held accountable, Republican and Democrat alike, and they will be the deciding body on such a radical policy, not the FDA.

What is odd to me is that you people all show up out of nowhere to blame Bush for Obama's crimes. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT HAPPENED IN THE PAST IF THIS PRESIDENT CONTINUES TO ENGAGE IN UNCONSTITUTIONAL BEHAVIOR, AND EVEN WORSE!!!

This Bush stuff is getting old, and frankly, I am quite sick of it. The next such post will be deleted from this site.
