N.C. high schools to replace U.S. History with environmental issues

AP Photo/Lynne Sladky

North Carolina public high schools are trying to erase all early U.S. history from the curriculum, ranging from the Founding Fathers to Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War...in exchange for things like environmental issues. This kind of blatant propagandistic slant has become routine in public schools (see here and here).

Even though many Americans are increasingly convinced that we need to be embracing the Founding principles now more than ever, the far left teachers' unions driving this latest attempt to accommodate mediocrity disagree. They insist that lowering educational standards even further to such completely dysfunctional levels will somehow enable public school students to gain a more in-depth understanding of current events.

Rebecca Garland, the chief academic officer for North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, explained the decision this way:

"What we are trying to do is figure out a way to teach it where students are connected to it, where they see the big idea, where they are able to make connections and draw relationships between parts of our history and the present day."

In other words, the left-wing teachers' unions running our public school systems (into the ground) have dumbed down education so far at this point that they now must sacrifice everything about who we are, what we stand for and how we got here in order for their victims to graduate. This is what happens when you put Democrat power (forced union dues) before the interests of the people and care more about manufacturing racially-sensitive little environmentalists than actual education.

It is more difficult to notice how fundamentally un-American the left's Constitution-trampling agenda is when no one is even talking about the Founding era anymore.

Karl Marx always said the ignorant masses are the ones that can be controlled. If you have no clue as to who we are as a nation, where we came from, under what conditions we have suffered through we will be easily deceived and forced to relive the tyranny of the past from which this nation rose up in rebellion.

I know very well how these intruders operate and what their objectives are. To "transform" America into a communist block nation, one thing they believe they have to do is erase the memory of what made America what we are: Every part of traditional history and replace the vacuum with total lies. In other words, the government schools (most people still call them "public" schools) must be brainwashing camps. Hitler would love this. The goal of today's government schools is anything but the teaching of U.S. history or legitimate knowledge. It's all about brainwashing so that we will eventually go willingly.

Read the leftist spokeswoman's quote and then rationally explain how she can possibly NOT see a connection between the founding history of our country and the travesty that she and her ilk are trying to force on today's educational system. It is not the history course content that is is not relevant nor erroneous, but she and the rest of the overpaid liberals in "education" who are too lazy and intellectually incapable of making history education stimulating and inspiring. But then again, that's not their goal.

As for trading history for environmental issues, how much do you want to bet she's got a picture of Al the Gore painted on black velevet (a la Elvis) hanging in her bedroom?

European children excel in their education and know more about history than Americans, because of our school system is failing due to the liberal teachers that we have in the school system. Obama and his government wants America to be ignorant too, that's what dictators do, amass the ignorants and they will do as they tell them.

As a Canadian, I know next to nothing about history. My husband is from Bulgaria, and he knows so much and can see the big picture and understand what the governments are up to, where as I had no idea before I met him. History needs to be taught, or at the very least, we all need to teach it to our kids no matter what the school system decides.

More than ever, parents have to get involved and supplement their child's education. There are several good books out there that help. One I have recently selected because it is an easy but thorough read is "Godly Minds, Bold Hearts." (forgot the author's name)

Until I woke up, I really didn't know the extent of "progressive" thought was in our schools. Yes, I kne about College professors, but not about kids still in grade school and high school.
I know we all feel very deeply about returning to our Founding Fathers and do not like what kind of education kids are getting, or not getting.
I am wondering about what common sense solutions there are. Any suggestions?
I am now so upset I am seriously thinking of becoming a member of our local school board. I am hoping that my involvement can be part of the solution.

Yes, the elite progressive have slimed their way into our schools
because that is where they can work on small children who put
their trust in these slime balls. The parents of these children
MUST FIGHT BACK! Take their children away from these elite progressive's. Teach them at home and read the bible each morning like my wife and I did for our children. I can tell
you first hand, they and their children will enjoy the results!

This is the Progressive agenda: to erase our country's history and replace it with indoctrinating our children with liberal/progressive agenda's in the public schools. Parents and tax payers need to be engaged and speak up and put a stop to this.

Another hard-hitting, award-winning, freedom-loving article from Mr. Moon. And while I applaud his efforts to shine a light on this national tragedy, I also implore you all to contact your representatives and local newspapers and DEMAND them to raise awareness about Obama's plan to destroy our nation's puppies! This great, beautiful, succulent nation will become a barren land of Communism and Satan worship if we don't learn about the founding fathers and lose all of our puppies!

    Regards,

    Dr. P.W. McCallum

the communist manifesto says something to the effect,"control the minds of the youth and dissent will cease to exist". this seems to be the case in NC and other states as well.

Without the Study of History, the work of historians, and the understanding of America's past...there will be no environmental concerns. Because North Carolina will erase the unity of a nation.
