Is Sarah Palin the new voice of the GOP?

With her suggestion that she would be available for a Presidential run in 2012, the question arises in the minds of political observers, 'Is Sarah Palin the new voice of the GOP?'

Fresh from her stirring keynote address at the National Tea Party Convention in Nashville over the weekend, Palin stated on Fox News Sunday that she could not 'close the door' on the possibility of a Presidential bid in the upcoming 2012 election.

The announcement brought cheers from Palin supporters all across the country who believe that the former Alaska Governor is the top conservative alternative for the modern era against a relentless leftward push of Leftwing extremists toward total government control of every sector of society.

On the other hand, detractors believe that Palin has not passed the muster of the conservative litmus test.  At the forefront of the minds of most of her detractors is her continued support for former GOP Presidential candidate John McCain, who is running for reelection as the U.S. Senator from Arizona.

Palin has stated she will campaign for McCain, although he is facing a primary challenge from a more conservative Republican, J.D. Hayworth.

Most conservatives have had trouble moving beyond McCain's support for limitations on free speech in his now-unconstitutional McCain-Feingold legislation, his failure to show a consistent pattern of support for gun rights, and his push for amnesty for illegal aliens.

The fact that Palin would support McCain, who is viewed as a betrayer, is beyond the pale to many of these conservatives.

To be fair, however, the former Alaska Governor has thrown the full weight of her support behind Tea Party-endorsed conservative candidates such as Scott Brown in Massachusetts, Doug Hoffman in U.S. Congressional District 23 in New York, Bob McDonnell in the Virginia Governor's race, and others.

And it should be noted that on key conservative issues Palin has clearly stated her position, such as low taxes and smaller government, innovative ways to address problems in healthcare apart from government control, abortion, gun rights, and a common-sense energy policy that affirms the need for all of our resources--natural gas, nuclear, oil, coal, solar, hydrogen, and bio-fuels.

Even NBC News correspondent Andrea Mitchell, who has developed a reputation for engaging in unfair, personal attacks on Palin, stated over the weekend that in the wake of the National Tea Party Convention, Palin is now a major player on the national stage and perhaps the most powerful voice in politics for conservatives.

Time will tell.

Are you suggesting there is only or should be only one voice?

Fear, not suggesting anything, just reporting what the media is now saying.

If they think that her support of McCain is the only issue, then they had better dig a bit deeper. I like the lady, but, when things got tough, she bailed.

Her best speech by far was at the Rep. Nat. Convention, a speech she delivered almost verbatim after the monitors had failed. Bill Clinton was celebrated for the same feat, the media didn't celebrate for Sarah.

You note her: (common-sense energy policy that affirms the need for all of our resources--natural gas, nuclear, oil, coal, solar, hydrogen, and bio-fuels.)

That is what I like the most about her. Just move America forward using all of our abundant resources, employ as many able persons while we can before they forget what it was like to have a job (and a purpose).

Her delivery was a bit off, but i liked about 90% of it. Living in AZ it pains me when she is mentioned as campaigning for McCain. That being said, it shows a level of loyalty, she KNOWS it will hurt her on the political stage, but she also knows her "household name" is due to the VP 2008 campaign. I hope she brings more people over to a "tea party" mentality, and gets people off of the wishy washy fence, we'll see. Overall she did a good job of delivering a speach without a strict line of GOP voters watching. I wish her success and McCain FAILURE.
