Totalitarians are known for using the excuse of 'national emergency' or 'national security' to justify draconian forays into the private lives of citizens, seizing the circumstances in order to amass more power.

Each time during the 20th century that totalitarians, whether Fascist or Communist, took power in various nations around the world, they used national crisis as the excuse. This was certainly the case with the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia, leading to the Communist Soviet Union. Hitler did the same in Germany. Castro seized control of Cuba using the justification of the 'dire circumstances' the country faced at the time.
From Day One the Obama Administration has used the current economic crisis in America to justify seizing the American auto industry--with the exception of Ford--and enacting measures to control banks, investment firms, the healthcare industry, and even dictate to private corporations how much money they can pay their executives.
All of this, interestingly, was done while the salaries of government employees skyrocketed to nearly double the pay of those in the private sector.
Now the Administration wishes to control energy with the new 'cap and trade' tax scheme which punishes private citizens and companies for 'carbon emissions.'
But even beyond that, the Administration is determined to control communications, particularly through the Internet.
In 2009 the Obama Administration tested a data-gathering apparatus through Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, and other social networking sites. They did so without notifying anyone of what they intended to do. They arrogantly invaded the privacy of millions of citizens who use these sites in order to gather information about them, and to enter their email addresses in a national database.
Here is what the investigation uncovered:
NLPC has uncovered a plan by the White House New Media operation to hire a
technology vendor to conduct a massive, secret effort to harvest personal information on millions of Americans from social networking websites. The information to be captured includes comments, tag lines, emails, audio, and video. The targeted sites include Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, YouTube, Flickr and others – any space where the White House “maintains a presence.”
This database was discussed in the previous article in the series. It is provided by Oracle and it enables the government to have broad, sweeping abilities to spy on average citizens as a matter of routine.
The goal of this database is the development of something called 'Data.gov.' It's objective is to 'redesign the government' using Internet technology. But with the manner in which the Obama Administration has been using the technology already, the whole thing amounts to 'techno-terrorism.'
The website for 'Government 2.0 Club' provides the details about Data.gov.
The problem with this scheme is encapsulated in this:
“Data.gov has to be comprehensive and timely. While the Constitution calls for separation of powers, we do not believe that Data.gov, run by the Executive Branch of Government, should be limited to only Executive Branch information. It should encompass all branches of Government and every independent agency. (p.s. an OPML based list of all government agencies represented in the natural hierarchy of Government should be a data feed!) And it should constantly be growing.
In other words, in the thinking of those who are developing Government 2.0, Data.gov, and other such far-reaching advancements in the ability of the government to snoop into our lives, the restrictions of the Constitution are a non-issue. They pose absolutely no roadblock for the technocrats that sit behind the scenes proposing and implementing these Orwellian plans.
Separation of powers? No problem. That is just a relic from a different era. Obviously, according to the prevailing wisdom of the totalitarians, consolidation of power is not only preferable, but it is so, well... practical.
Dig deeper, for there is much, much more shocking information--too much to publish here. But the information contained in these links will only confirm the dire, ominous nature of the present push toward centralized government control of all of life.

This just keeps getting better and better! Data.gov?! Seriously? The site that opens up all the public information datasets so that you can get data without jumping through all kinds of bureaucratic hoops? Super sensitive data like the habitats of the whooping crane. That does sound serious.

The average wage of a gov't employee is around $77,000.00 and in the $42,000.00 range if my memory serves me correctly. The information is available but you can look it up yourself as I could care less whether you believe it or not.

Those numbers are skewed by including the rarified executive and specialist positions - if I was doing the same job, with the same experience, in the civilian world, I'd be making about 15 percent more.
My health benefits are better, however; and with a mortgage and kids, I'm not now in a position to move to where I could get that civilian job.
Most importantly, the claim was that government salaries "skyrocketed" under Obama, which is clearly and absolutely untrue.

If you can show that any data was collected and used for illegal purposes, then you might (MIGHT) have a case. But until then, it's just more bluster.
This is as every bit scary as it sounds. It's true. It's an e-gov initiative. it will harvest info from every government source on a person. If you think that is scary....try out the military lifetime record that the White House is asking of the military and the VA. Each soldier will have a lifetime record including work, financial, health, social security, taxes, and you name it. One they figure out how to do this and the indexing and 'patient locator' they can then apply the same principles to create a civilian equivalent. Evil abounds.

But allow me to do the math for you. This is the salary of a GS-7, Step 1, from FY 2007 through FY 2010, with percentage of increase from the year before:
2007 $31,740
2008 $32,534 2.50%
2009 $33,477 2.90%
2010 $33,979 1.50%
Take any pay grade, and those percentage increases are the same.
Now. where exactly is that giant increase in the last 18 months?
One clarification: Although those pay scales are part of fiscal year budgets, because of accounting tricks by Congress, the actual pay scales take effect on January 1 of each year, not Oct. 1 of the previous year.
In other words, Fiscal Year 2010 began Oct. 1, 2009 - but the pay raises took effect Jan. 1, 2010.
Slave Wages--you still fail to take into consideration the numerous news reports, cited here on several occasions in the past, comparing apples to the apples in the public and private work force. In comparison and over-all, government employees are making far more money than private sector workers. If you deny this fact, that makes YOU the barefaced liar.
Besides that, you are a government worker with a vested interest in the powers that be.
