Sharron Angle , who served eight years in the Nevada State Assembly, is one of the conservative candidates vying for the Republican primary win and the chance to unseat incumbent Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) in the general election. This is the second candidate profile in the series for this race.
Community Service
Angle has a history of community service, dating back she says, from the beginning of her adult life. Angle’s resume includes tutoring children to read, starting a crisis call center for troubled teens, providing companion care to senior citizens, starting a private school, and serving one term on the Nye County School Board. Angle sees herself as an ‘encourager’ but is firm in her unwillingness to compromise her values and integrity.
Her hard work as a Nevada State Assemblywoman earned Angle the Claremont Institute’s Ronald Reagan Freedom Medallion in 2004 for her effort at fighting for Nevada’s constitutional rights. According to her website , Angle went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court to defend Nevada’s two-third legislative voting requirement for raising taxes, criticizing Governor Guinn who endeavored to nullify the state constitution in order to allow a simple majority of the legislature to pass a tax increase.
Record
During a recent interview Angle proudly pointed to her record in public service, believing that examples go farther than mere words. Angle authored The Freedom for Homeschooled Children Act, which is currently law and a model program used by other states for home-schooling legislation. She sponsored the Angle Property Tax Restraint Initiative for capping property tax increases, and sponsored a Nevada Taxpayer Bill of Rights to limit government spending.
Speaking with conviction, Angle stated, “We really need people that understand that Keynesian Economics just does not work. We need to get back to what many people called ‘Reaganomics’ – which is just Austrian Economics.”
Economic Policy
Angle reported her economic policy is pretty simple; pay back, cut back, and then take back.
“Pay back means we need to pay back the stimulus, the TARP, and pay back on that debt. We don’t need to be creating slush funds for the administration and Senator Reid so that they can give us more programs and more debt,” explained Angle.
“We need to cut back. I want to freeze the budget at 2009 levels, minus the stimulus money,” said Angle who believes that a 4% cut back per year for the next five years would inspire confidence, along with eliminating the 20% of waste, fraud, and abuse in the government. The third part of Angle’s economic policy is taking back the country.
Constitutional Republic
Discussing her priority to restore constitutional government, Angle affirmed, “We are a constitutional republic. That is the contract with America. Everybody says we need a new contract. No, we have a good contract, and basically we need people who are willing to keep their oath.”
Likening herself to an oath keeper, such as military personnel who swear an oath of allegiance to the constitution, Angle declared, “I’ve taken that oath of office to defend and support the constitution of Nevada, and the United States…. I think we have to put people in (office) that are unwilling to pass laws that are unconstitutional.”
The next candidate profile in this series will focus on Republican candidate Danny Tarkanian.

Comments
Ms.
Thank you for this feature article on Sharron Angle, candidate for US Senate from Nevada.
From the growing crowd of choices in the race for senate, Sharron Angle has the strongest Constitutional Conservative principles and record on the GOP slate. Angle is head and shoulders above all the other otherwise qualified GOP contestants when it comes to representing our Republic's Constitution.
RamblingRick
Northern Nevada Constitutional Conservative
I disagree with Rambling Rick's assessment of Sharon Angle. While it looks as though she is quite conservative, I believe Bill Parson has stronger constitutionally conservative principles and he has a depth of knowledge in many areas where Sharron Angle only scratches the surface. One look at Bill Parson's very in depth website and one brief conversation with him will tell all. I am anxious to see the interview with Bill, which I assume is forthcoming. Ms. Crusade is doing a fantastic job on these articles.
Hope Sharron Angle becomes the Senator from Nevada! Keep up with your good works Sara Crusade - we need the good journalism back in this country !!!
