Is anyone really surprised here? Climate change has resulted in the increase of prostitution in the Philippines. This is the conclusion of the United Nations Food Population Fund. Did we really need an international organization to tell us the obvious here? Climate change = prostitution, duhh! Anyone with a brain could see this coming.
If you don't believe it read it here in a Nation Magazine article that spells it all out. Actually it doesn't because the article reasons that over population and fishing is resulting in less men fishing thereby forcing women into “traditional role the man in providing for the family.” Nonsense! Why? Because in trying to make the point this little tidbit undermines it.
In the article is a much better illustration made by former Environment secretary Dr. Angel Alcala who now heads the prestigious Angelo King Center for Research and Environmental Management in Siliman University --that's right The Silman University-- Dr Alcala says “women often pick out shellfish by the coastlines, which exposed to storm surges. Women who can no longer endure this work often go out to find other jobs, while some are tempted to go into prostitution.” Um, well, in thinking about it if there were no global warm..sorry climate change there would be less storm surges and the shellfish species would not be on the path to endangerment by future ladies of the night picking at them. Sorry, I read it wrong.
Who cares if the article makes a poor case, it's happening damn it and we don't need a Nation article to tell us even though it really doesn't.
In anticipating this some time ago I had a conversation with a fellow right-wing nut case and I said that “you know I think this global warming stuff...” back then it was called that, that is until the stupid planet started getting colder due to global warming and the crisis was changed to climate change “...will lead to more prostitution.”. My louse of a conservative friend responded in typical male fashion “really, where WHERE??” I said “easy does it will ya, in the Philippines not here.”. When he calmed down I explained that what needs to be done, if we have the courage to do it, is to improve sex-disaggregation of date related to migration flows that are influenced by environmental factors. A progressive minded person overhearing this and interrupted by saying I took the words right out of her mouth.
Sure enough what does the UN do? They recommend the very same thing chapter and verse along with a lot of other stuff I hadn't thought of like “Fully fund family planning services and contraceptive supplies within the framework of reproductive health and rights, and assure that low income is no barrier to access.” this is important because there are way too many poor people making babies and instead of instituting wealth and free markets to make them un-poor, far better if they just stop reproducing.

Let's see. Shell Oil, BP, Exxon, all have ads telling us what their doing to relieve climate warming. We have scientists who spend their lives studying climate. They are in virtual agreement. Let's all ignore them because our intrepid writer is sneering at them. How could those guys be totally wrong and out intrepid crackpot right?? That's easy. He's a crackpot. It was a trick question.
As to the UN report, I'd say that our intrepid writer should go right to the source and write his sneering objections to the obscure Philippine publication. That way he would show them his credentials in critic-hood. I'm sure the publication would appreciate the wisdom.
I can't wait for him to pick apart some article in a Timbuctu publication. My guess is that he will if Fox news mentions it.

( LOL just a joke CT) That’s what the article was to JofT, I read it again and laugh harder the second time, Didn’t you even laugh a little? I think we all know that climate change is real it was just funny. The question would be is it causing prostitution. I’m sitting here laughing as I write it. I can’t even type it without laughing. Have you noticed the many scientist that say your 'theory' about climate change is wrong? It's "cyclical". It has nothing to do with what we do as people. Some say our slight temp rise, as a whole, is a result of the oceans and things will continue to change, IE. Back in the 70's you convoluted thinking types were on a campaign for "Global Cooling". That concept did not catch on too well and was soon forgotten. Ever heard that Liberal 'theory'? Now it's the old "Let's give 'Global Warming' a try". Next it will be whatever the Liberal leaders say it is and you sheeple will follow. I ain't buying it.
Actually all science and intelligence is "liberal thinking" to "simple thinking folk".
An American Philippine newspaper prints a UN report tying increased prostitution to climate warming. From climate warming to the decrease of shells on the coast to increased poverty to increased prostitution. Our critic thinks that's funny. So he sneers at climate warming and at the connections they engender. Now, if he knows anything about climate warming he should indicate what makes it funny. In short what's his expertise in climate and prostitution for that matter? Is it because he's a conservative critic? Where's the conservatism? Where's the joke? What are you laughing at? Is it because some one says he's a conservative and knows how to sneer, then you must also sneer in bobble head fashion?
Change of subject:
In keeping with the Jackson rule that all blacks should vote for health care how about the Tea Party 10 rules for being a good conservative? It seems that if you get 3 wrong then you're not a true blue conservative. I like it. But it doesn't go far enough. I say they should add the following:
1: If you squeak by and get 3 politically incorrect answers you are deemed wishy-washy and wear an armband with an elephant's trunk in the down position.
2: Two incorrects gets you the elephant in the up position.
3: If all correct you wear an armband created from tea bags.
4: Add the requirement "You must oppose any political correctness".
Some may view that last one as a trick question, but when you're dealing with conservative bobble heads it's a no brainer.

I really needed a good laugh after some lack luster turkey on my part and you are never surpassed with your arrogance, self-importance and delusions of grandeur not to mention missing the entire point or distortion if not out right fabrication.
Regardless of what your belief about the severity of the impact of Global Warming or even if you remain unconvinced as to even the existence of Global Warning when nature changes in an unpleasant of even merely unexpected manner there are consequences to those of use that populate planet earth ... maybe that does not include Mr. Talleos.
In impoverished and/or less developed nations when crops or other agriculture industries fail people resort to other sometimes illegal methods to survive. That is part of the point of the original article in Nation Magazine.

It's hard for me to say or know if global warming exists as I always like to learn more about all that is out there. How are we supposed to know just exactly who is telling the truth, as they know it, and giving us correct information. Seems to me that this planet is so large that God will need to tell us as he is the only one that truly knows all. I thought for sure that Steve would make reference to Barney Frank (prostitution) after reading this article. I have been reading a little about that guy (per Steve's instructions) and it's kinda amazing that he keeps getting elected. Someone out there please tell me what Frank brings to the table. And, I guess I would be a number 1 on the JofT list of political know-alls as I am still learning and have been labaled as "wishy-washy" by the hard Right and now JofT as well.
