Reid's ruse--the scheme no one is talking about

In a blatant attempt to slip into law a healthcare bill nobody has seen, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has kept hidden the actual healthcare legislation while putting forth a false bill for debate on the Senate floor--Reid's ruse.

This is the charge by GOP Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky.

McConnell is blasting Reid and the Democrats for refusing to release to the full Senate the actual bill.  Instead, the Democrats wish to keep the bill a secret:

‘And here’s the most outrageous part: at the end of this rush, they want us to vote on a bill that no one outside the Majority Leader’s conference room has even seen. That’s right. The final bill we’ll vote on isn’t even the one we’ve had on the floor. It’s the deal Democrat leaders have been trying to work out in private.’

Wouldn't such a thing under normal conditions, in a different venue, be consider illegal or at least highly unethical?

In this government, however, absolutely no level is too low for our elected representatives to stoop to try to fleece the public with an extremist agenda that the American people have clearly indicated they don't want.

McConnell continues:

“Senators on both sides acknowledge that the health care bill we’re considering is among the most significant pieces of legislation any of us will ever consider.

“So it stands to reason that we’d devote significant time and attention to it.

“Indeed, some would argue that we should spend more time and attention on this bill than most — if not every — previous bill we’ve considered.

“The Majority disagrees.

“Why? Because this bill has become a political nightmare for them.

“They know Americans overwhelmingly oppose it, so they want to get it over with.

“Americans are already outraged at the fact that Democrat leaders took their eyes off the ball. Rushing the process on a partisan line makes the situation even worse.

“Americans were told the purpose of reform was to reduce the cost of health care.

“Instead, Democrat leaders produced a $2.5 trillion, 2,074-page monstrosity that vastly expands government, raises taxes, raises premiums, and wrecks Medicare.

“And they want to rush this bill through by Christmas — one of the most significant, far-reaching pieces of legislation in U.S. history. They want to rush it.

“And here’s the most outrageous part: at the end of this rush, they want us to vote on a bill that no one outside the Majority Leader’s conference room has even seen.

“That’s right. The final bill we’ll vote on isn’t even the one we’ve had on the floor. It’s the deal Democrat leaders have been trying to work out in private.

“That’s what they intend to bring to the floor and force a vote on before Christmas.

“So this entire process is essentially a charade.

A charade, indeed.

This farce even has some Democrats crying foul.  Former DNC Chair Howard Dean, hardly a small-government conservative, stated that the whole healthcare thing needed to be scrapped so that Congress can start over from scratch.

While I agree that the whole thing needs to be scrapped, I would NEVER support an initiative for this particular Congress to start over with regarding ANYTHING at all.  This cast of clowns, these village idiots, need to be replaced before ANY more legislation is forced onto a resistant public that clearly views Congress with disdain.

Lest anyone doubt that the Democratic leadership and their peons who march in lockstep are village idiots, McConnell lays it out very nicely:

Here’s a snapshot of what we’ve done and where we stand:

• The Majority Leader intends to bring this debate to a close as early as this weekend — four days from now, on this $2.5 trillion dollar mistake

• No American who hasn’t been invited into the Majority Leader’s conference room knows what will be in that bill

• This bill has been the pending business of the Senate since the last week of November — less than four weeks ago.

• We started the amendment process two weeks ago.

• We’ve had 21 amendments and motions — less than two a day.

And they wish to ram this thing through before Christmas.

I have often stated that if this mammoth piece of trash is approved by Congress it will mean the end of liberty as we know it in America.  Once centralized government controls the healthcare of the citizens, they control our entire lives.

That can mean only one thing, which I will restate most vehemently--if this Congress approves this 2.5 trillion-dollar-albatross that will hang around the necks of the citizens forever, then it is time for peasants with pitchforks and torches to move en mass to Washington to stage a 20-million-citizen-strong 'sit-in' in the halls of Congress.

We will simply need to peacefully move in, take over, shut it down, and wait for new elections.  And if Obama wishes to call out troops to shoot and kill fellow American citizens for merely standing up for liberty, then so be it.  He will merely prove to all the world what we have known all along--he is a fascist/Marxist who is every bit as dangerous as Chairman Mao.

They are hoping to start a civil war, to answer the question posed earlier. They think that it will be of limited size and they will be victorious and thus able to dismantle the BoR permanently in the name of national security. I think they misjudge the actual amount and ferocity of resistance and restoration that will take place if they are successful in their attempt to antagonize the American people into use of arms.

And to think, some people look at me like I'm crazy for making preparations when I say something big is going to happen in the country very soon. There are going to be some very surprised people.
