Santa, you listening?
Could you please give us some sanity in Congress this Christmas?

Senator Ben Nelson, D-Nebraska.![]()
After rushing headlong to approve a healthcare bill that many Constitutional experts say is blatantly unconstitutional, the chief idiots of the insane asylum that we call 'Congress' are now frantically attempting to show that the measure doesn't run afoul of clear Constitutional provisions.
Perhaps the Einsteins among the Democratic leadership should listen to a statement made by their own President--that's right, Barack Hussein Obama.
The one statement that Obama has made which is 100% true--and that he truly believes is 100% true-- was when he told a reporter in an interview that 'the U.S. Constitution is based upon negative liberties that prevent government from doing certain things.'
Of course, Obama believes that this is a glaring weakness. He believes that the document is outdated and needs to be revised to focus on so-called 'positive liberties' that emphasize what government can do.
Nonetheless, Obama admitted what most informed citizens already know. The Constitution guards individual liberties by placing clear limits on what the centralized federal government can do. And further, in certain instances, those powers that are not granted to the federal government are left to the states--although there are clear limitations on what state governments can do as well.
This principle is key to understanding one of the reasons the healthcare bills approved by the House and Senate run afoul of the Constitution. The U.S. Constitution does not give the federal government the power to mandate that citizens purchase anything. That basic notion is based upon the principle of 'enumerated powers.' In our system of government, the federal government only has those powers that are specifically enumerated in the Constitution.
Nowhere does the Constitution give the federal government the authority to require citizens to buy a product from a company or any other entity.
Enter the clowns from the insane asylum we call Congress.
Traitor Ben Nelson, who sold his soul to the devil for a promise that citizens in Nebraska will NEVER have to pay for increases in Medicaid coverage for its poor, stated that the healthcare bill is Constitutional because its mandate for citizens to buy insurance is like the states that require citizens to purchase auto insurance.'
Several other Village Idiots who swing from the chandeliers in the Senate Chamber have parroted the very same line.
The statement is insane.
The reason? There are two. One, state governments have certain powers that the Constitution does not give the federal government, and two, mandating that citizens purchase car insurance does not apply to ALL citizens but only to those who choose to drive a car.
No one is forced to buy insurance if they don't drive.
Yet these political hacks and charlatans in Congress are hoping that the citizens throughout America are just as dumb as they are when it comes to the nature of the U.S. Government and its Constitution.
My suggestion to Senator Nelson and others like him is to get remedial help by taking a course in basic high school civics. Better yet, get the heck out of Congress. You don't belong there.
So Santa, remember...I've been a good boy.

Sanity in congress? Yeah, when there are blizzards in hell!
"... to the States OR TO THE PEOPLE." The PEOPLE are the final arbiters of ALL THINGS CONSTITUTIONAL -- NOT the courts, the States nor Congress!
I've been a good boy too - so far. I'll be surprised if I can say the same this time next year!
If only it was so simple. If we could all wake up tomorrow to find Santa had restored sanity to the Congress of the United States of America. But like Santa, that is merely fantasy. What we need is for every American who values liberty and believes the Constitution actually has meaning to wake up tomorrow and demand that our elected leaders begin to represent us and stop looking out for themselves and special interests. It can be done. Make phone calls, send emails, send faxes, send letters. never relent. And most importantly of all...VOTE in the mid term elections. Send them home, not just for the holidays, but permanently. We have the power, we only need to exercise it. Or we could just lie down and liberty die.
Anthony,as per usual, was much nicer than I was with his descriptive terminology.
If Ben, Blanche and all the others really wanted to do the right thing, they would commit suicide. real suicide, not just political suicide.
The fact that all of them are still breathing means they have no conscience nor morals.
Got something to say?
