Lieberman caves--Senate set to approve ObamaCare

As the major power-broker in the current heated debate in the Senate on the pending government takeover of healthcare, Joe Lieberman indicated today that he is set to support the legislation.

Prior to the capitulation to Lieberman's demands by Obama and the Democratic leadership, the Connecticut Senator had threatened to join Republicans in blocking the legislation due to his opposition to a public option.

That particular tactic appears to be dead in the water as Lieberman suggested this morning that the compromises the Democratic leadership were willing to make succeeded in 'moving the bill in the right direction.'

This means that unless abortion opponents among the Democrats such as Nelson, Bayh, and Lincoln refuse to support the measure, the country is headed toward socialized medicine before Christmas.

And make no mistake, even without the so-called 'public option,' the bill still contains multi-billions of dollars in subsidies, an entire revamping of the current system, a mind-boggling tax burden for the middle class, and centralized government control of hospitals, doctors, insurance companies, clinics, and every other sector of American healthcare.

After all is said and done, Lieberman is, at heart, a liberal Democrat who believes in big government and big government spending.

Quickly, let's take a brief look at what this bill will do even after the compromises are made.

First, the Congressional Budget Office reports that the average middle class family will be forced to pay an extra $15,200 bucks in a new 'yearly insurance fee.'

As CNS states,

Forget the public option. Even without it, the health care bill presented in the Senate by Majority Leader Harry Reid (D.-Nev.) would make some middle-class American families pay what amounts to a $15,200 annual federally-mandated insurance fee, according to facts revealed in analyses published by the Congressional Budget Office.

Second, the bill is still nearly 2000 pages and still contains provisions for an entire new government bureaucracy that will dictate to insurance companies what they are allowed to cover, who they are allowed to insure, and how much money they can spend for patients.

This is excellent news if you are presently uninsured, or an illegal alien, and want to be told by government you MUST buy insurance, or in the case of illegal aliens have your healthcare provided free of charge.  It is terrible news if you are severely, chronically ill or one of the growing numbers of the nation's elderly.  The government will have the power to ration your care.  READ THE BILL if you have any doubts about this assertion.

Third, even with the current changes to the bill, you will still be required by government to purchase health insurance whether you can afford it or not, and if you fail to do so you will be subject to fines and jail time.

Fourth, the U.S. cannot afford yet another multi-trillion-dollar social spending program when the nation is in debt up to its eyeballs.  With the extra debt burden this healthcare plan will add to a debt-load that has brought the nation to the brink of complete economic collapse, we are signing away not only our own future but that of hundreds of years of generations to come.

And this is only the tip of the iceberg.  There is much more in the ObamaCare legislation, all 2000 pages worth, to let thinking people know that in order to cover roughly 10 million uninsured, the government is going to destroy the best healthcare system on earth and replace it with something closely akin to government-run healthcare in Great Britain and Canada.

Perhaps the citizens should place Congress on notice.  If this shockingly terrible piece of legislation passes--and we now have every reason to believe it will--then it will be time for the citizen uprising of the centuries.

The citizens, the peasants with pitchforks and torches, will need to simply invade Washington and the Congress, en mass, and shut it down in a non-violent display of solidarity.  20 million citizens would be enough do it.  And there are multi-millions more who would support such a move.
