Outraged that the federal government placed a gag order on healthcare companies concerning cuts in Medicare, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell took to the floor of the Senate to condemn this muzzling of free speech and to demand that the gag order be lifted.
The entire YouTube video of McConnell's words on the Senate floor can be viewed by clicking here.
Apparently the Humana Corporation, which offers supplemental Medicare insurance, sent out a memo in the mail to its customers warning them that certain legislation being pushed in Congress would more than likely result in a reduction of Medicare benefits.
That statement is true. Obama and the Democrats have proposed a 500 billion dollar cut in Medicare benefits over the next few years in order to help pay for 'healthcare reform' that will shift healthcare spending from senior adults to illegal aliens and those who do not presently have coverage.
Humana was merely informing its customers of a matter that is of extreme importance to them, as well as to the companies that offer the supplemental insurance.
However, a powerful Democrat in the Senate, incensed that a company would have to gall to state the truth and exercise its First Amendment rights to free speech, used his influence to get the federal government to issue a gag order for healthcare companies, forbidding them from disclosing any information to their customers concerning pending cuts in Medicare benefits.
We did some research into this inexcusable tactic on the part of the government and discovered that the powerful Senator who directed the Medicare agency to impose the gag order is none other than Senate Finance Committee Chair Max Baucus, D-Montana.
Even the ultra-Leftist New York Times reported this story.
No matter which way you cut it, this is nothing short of a sheer outrage. Senior adults have a right to be informed of the pending changes in Medicare that WILL impact their lives under the proposed government takeover of the U.S. Healthcare System. But apparently their government thinks that such information should be hidden lest the 'peons in the populace' find out the real truth about what Congress is doing and yell to high heaven about it.
We wouldn't want buzzards such as Baucus, Reid, Leahy, Dodd, Boxer, Feinstein, Schumer, Pelosi, Rangel, Conyers, and Hoyer actually being placed on the hot seat by the voters, now, would we. After all, that may effect their chances at getting re-elected. And until the midterm elections of 2010, it is of utmost importance that citizens be kept in the dark concerning their under-the-table, sleazy deals to rob senior adults of the benefits they earned by paying into the system all their lives.
The McConnell video should be shared far and wide with as many citizens as will listen, particularly our senior adults.
Perhaps the angry 'peasants with pitchforks' should stuff a sock into the mouth of Baucus and others like him, and then put the muzzle on top of it. If anybody in this country should 'shut-up,' it is surely the robbers of free speech and other liberties.
How will this country survive until November of 2010 with lamebrained numbskulls like these running Congress?

How about a little truth. The New York Times link was a reuters story reprinted and clearly stated that the warning by CMS to Humana and other groups was about misleading info they were feeding to their cllients.
While still discussing the truth how about how the Medicare "Advantage" programs are really programs taking advatnage of American taxpayers?
You know I thought the Republicans are for lower taxes. Oh yeah that's unless it affects republican backers' company profits.
Let's not forget that Mitch McConnell's received over 2 million in campaign contributions from the health sector.
Senior adults have a right to know who is buttering the politician's bread who is allegedly standing up for them.
Just think what we could do with the trillion dollar a year war habit that lays waste to third world nations we've invaded to liberate their...resources. It's only tapayer money that D.C. knows what best to do with. Makes sense to me. The only folks profiting from this are bankers, defense contractors and the mini state in the ME.

Gag orders are obsolete. The word is already out. Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make ye free.
The best word is word of mouth. Tell your friends and relatives that if Obamacare passes, their lives will definitely change and not for the better. In Obama's world, it definitely will be for the poorer.
Obama loves poor people. He just doesn't want to live that way himself. $100 per lb. steak is more Obama's style. Along with some arugula. Anyway, people who voted for the idiot will get what they deserve.
Nisacredcow,
Let's do have some truth:
> ... a reuters story...clearly stated that the warning by CMS to Humana
The truth is it was not a warning, it was a cease and desist. The exact words from the CMS letter are as follows (Google it, or are you afraid to?):
"we are instructing you to end immediately all such mailings to beneficiaries and to remove any related materials directed to Medicare enrollees from your website."
That is a restriction of free speech you idiot. Humana has the right to call a spade a spade.
And if you want to play the money game, fine, Max Baucus has received 3 million in in campaign contributions from the health sector.
Apples and oranges. I suppose we should never go to war? I mean 9/11 is just a law enforcement matter, right? Even if what you say is true pointing to one example of bad behavior doesn't excuse another. Obama wants to silence critics and shut down dissent. There is just one small problem with that, it's called the 1st amendment. You have no problem criticizing the Bush administration but defend punishing those who point out Obama's lies. And btw, I thought Obama promised to end the Iraq war if he was elected. Instead he continues many of the policies of the Bush administration. The hypocrisy of the left is so glaringly obvious, but they're so blind to the truth they can't even see how ridiculous they sound.
"That statement is true. Obama and the Democrats have proposed a 500 billion dollar cut in Medicare benefits over the next few years in order to help pay for 'healthcare reform' that will shift healthcare spending from senior adults to illegal aliens and those who do not presently have coverage."
Buwah!? Illegal aliens? Where's your source for this? While you look for it, search also for your credibility.
