Conservatives who love their country, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and human liberty have had enough. Word came last night that a massive protest is planned in order to send Washington a message.
On July 30, conservatives are 'going Galt,' named after Ayn Rand's famous character John Galt from her novel Atlas Shrugged, and thus refuse to show up for work. They plan to 'call in conservative.'
From the Eastside TeaParty blog:
You knew this day was coming with a government ramming a socialist agenda down everyone’s throat.
This may be the only way to wake our leaders up and show them they better pay attention to the people, that are none too happy with the dismantling of our country.
The following just went out tonight!
On July 30th, Conservatives are “Going Galt”.
On that date, we are asking Conservatives all across the nation to “Call in Conservative”. On July 30th, Conservatives will not work, we will not buy. Instead, we will spend time with our families and friends. We will show President Obama and Congress who REALLY drives this economy. For more information on “A Day Without Conservatives , contact Judson Phillips at judson@teapartynation.com.
This is major news...a protest with teeth. Unlike the Tea Parties, which I supported and continue to support, this particular protest goes a step further. Conservatives will show the nation what it would be like if we simply did not work or spend our money. This means that on that day we will not buy groceries, gasoline, snacks, patronize restaurants, or head out to Walmart or Target or any other retailer.
If this means businesses lose billions of dollars on that day, fine. If this means that travel will be disrupted, good. If this means communication systems are crippled, so be it.
Can you imagine the number of conservatives that work in various sectors of the economy who simply will not work on July 30? Can you imagine that not a single conservative will spend their money at restaurants, gasoline stations, or retailers on that day? The potential for this protest is enormous.
But government has pushed the citizens to this point. For now, this is a peaceful but firm protest to show Washington and 'progressives' that they can no longer expect us to simply roll over and play dead as they ram a socialist agenda down our throats. There are more of us than there are of them. We can shut this country down if we so choose.
No doubt employers and business owners will threaten employees with termination if they 'call in conservative' on that day. Don't let them intimidate you. They need conservative employees, who tend to be the most reliable and conscientious. And, it must be stated that some will probably lose their jobs. Thus, your participation is a matter of great sacrifice.
On the other hand, many business owners may well wish to join in the protest and simply shut down for the day. Businesses have been hit hard in the Obama attack on free enterprise and markets...and tax policy.
However, the burning issue at hand is taking the country back from Chicago thugs, charlatans, crooks, liars, and a Congress that is run by incompetent boobs who are just as corrupt as the gang at the White House.
We are now presented with a major opportunity to make a difference and force Washington to sit up and take notice of our deep discontent. The pivotal issue is how many conservatives are willing to join this 'call in conservative' day. If you are with us, the person to contact is listed in the quotation from the Eastside Tea Party blog above.
Your country and its rule of law--The United States Constitution--need your help at this critical time. If multi-millions of citizens participate, there is no way Washington can ignore us. And if they do, the next step may not be so pretty.

Not a big fan of this as it's going to hurt a lot of small business owners, many of whom are conservatives. Most of those gas stations and restaurants are owned by people in your community. It's not the people that are screwing us over, it's the government. I'm not sure how this is going to stick it to the government.
It will require sacrifice, that's for sure. But we are at a critical juncture. What is more important? Without liberty those businesses are toast anyway. Plus, it sticks it to the gov't in lost tax revenue from the steep decline in spending on that day. And it reminds gov't that its revenue depends on business and personal income.
I think a better idea is to join the march on Washington on September 12. A million people surrounding the Capitol Bldg would make a huge statement, and the media would have to cover it.
Anthony, Anthony, Anthony, If it's some you truly believe in, then, it's no sacrifice. Just think, as well, you'll come to understand what the Sabbath is all about. Nah, maybe not.
I'm not really sure about this. Government says one thing about jobs but does something else. I don't believe DC really cares. Now if we really want to get their attention, we should do something like keep ALL LIGHTS ON 24/7 for a few days. Man, that would just frost 'em, don't you think?
Anthony. You are dead on. The only thing that will talk is MONEY. I have called for this in a blog I posted and got just one response. Was it you? Anyway, what is needed is the support of a few key resource industries to make this effective. We need workers in the following industries to climb on board:
Power suppliers (electric, gas), Communication providers (telephone, cable), and transport (truckers, airline-related, trains, buses). Do you have a plan on how to get their support?
For those of you that think petitions and tea parties will do the trick, you need to go to the ourcaucus website (do a search, this site doesn't allow posting of links) and view the 6 videos that detail how government works. It follows the legislative voting records of 2 Utah senators, one democrat and one republican, and what their votes are really based upon.
Kristin:
Lost revenue in s-a-l-e-s t-a-x-e-s...
In my state thats 7%...By their nature conservatives are sensible, productive people. That's why the other side always has so much impact, why they get what they want from pols. They know how to make a fuss, how to threaten and back it up with action.
Meanwhile, we get to be decent but screwed. We're no threat. Sad truth, I'm afraid.
I posted your call for a strike on Resist.net. Nothing. Everyone blogs and complains and has tea parties. They really thing that's all they have to do. They are resisting in ways that doesn't upset anyone and feel good about themselves for being active. They are afraid to take a real stand. It is very depressing.
LOL! Do you really think there are enough of you willing to do this to make a difference? These types of protests have been tried before. They don't work, because coordinating this is nearly impossible, and frankly, as much as any one on any side says they care, WHAT they really care about is their own little world and self. If you really truly cared about your country, there are MANY ways to show it without doing something some blowhard on a little read blog says. Seriously, these guys are idiots. I love this GOING GALT BS. Its a FICTIONAL NOVEL. It's a concept that doesn't work BECAUSE there is ALWAYS someone to step up and take the place. CEO "goes galt" and there is a mid-level manager or lower senior exec ready to take the "crap" and take his place. Idiot conservatives all of a sudden say they won't work anymore, and there are MANY more ready to step in and take those jobs. The concept sounds good to naive people, but it JUST ISN'T BASED IN REALITY. F Ayn Rand
Oh and Anthony... Instead of going galt, get your fat ass on a treadmill and lose some weight before you die of a heart attack you overweight pig.
ROTFLMAO--to me it sounds like you are deathly afraid of this. What if this time it works? What if the people, this time, really ARE so fed up they are willing to sacrifice to send you idiotic 'progressives' in a tailspin?
Oh, and one other thing, you 'progressives' just can't engage in discussion without becoming personally offensive and insulting. What's that about, huh?
I like it.
Kristin - Small business owners will be out on strike too.
ROTFLMAO - Remember the Peter Principle, those lower level execs, and mid-level managers are not as competent as the CEO.
Ya know, it might not work- but I'm doing it anyway. For me, it is a matter of principle. Im not supporting it because i even think it will be a winning cause, I support this because it is the right cause.
Peter Principle is crap and just not true. Besides, many of the current crop of CEOs are doing a great job of running their companies into the ground... So I'm not worried.
Anthony... No I just find it entertaining to insult a fat uneducated idiot such as yourself who has no idea what he is talking about. I'm not scared of this... I think its funny as hell. It's like the NOT ONE DIME protest after Bush's re-election by far left wingers. Yeah, That worked.... Oh wait it didn't. Because its an idea that won't work. There aren't enough Fringe people like yourself to make a dent.
I find it funny how ignorant of American history you and the tea baggers (great name for a group mostly made up of homophobes by the way) are... The Boston Tea Party WAS NOT PROTESTING TAXES! It was protesting the levying of taxes without representation in the British Parliament. Hence, NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION. A second grader knows this, yet you idiots don't.
Please... All of you permanently quit your jobs and go Galt... LOL.... Then when you are broke, you can actually see what the policies you support do to hard working Americans. The irony of you having to use the social programs you rant about will be fantastic.
Anthony... One other thing...
You seem to forget that COnservatives have pretty much ruined the country and it will be a while until we dig out. From the d-bag reagan to the idiot chimp W, you guys screwed our country. Most of America realizes it. They aren't doing this crap because they know that if a Conservative got back into power, they could pretty much destroy the country... continuing in the great Reagan and Bush tradition... two of the worst Presidents and biggest traitors America has known.
Ok, let me say this. ROLTFLMAO, is simply an idiot. Probably a dope deranged idiot, but Hell, it's a free country and I seriously hope he is on dope. I never find it sad when a negative life force od's. So, go to it ROFLMAO.
Ok, this stepant is taken care of. Does anybody remember France in the 70's. They were where we are now. People working, taxes increasing, workers losing ground with every payday, freedoms being denied, especially economic freedoms. Protests were lodged, people begged to be heard, grievances were aired. The state response was "there is nothing we can do". The people were told to tighten their belts and take it.
Oops, instead they called a general workers strike for a week. Didn't take a week. Took less that 24 hours. When elevator operators, construction workers, data entry personnel, perfume counter sales people, tour guides, taxi drivers, etc. didn't show the French government crawled on their knees to get the people back to work, oh, and found a w
Oh, and found a whole lot of things they could actually do to remove the burden the had placed on the French citizen.
I would hate like Hell to believe the French had more guts than we did.
The problem with conservatives, in general, and these crack-pot protesters specifically, is that they presume that society's "elites" - the nation's leading innovators, industrialists and artists - won't simply be replaced by others that have always been waiting in the wings.
This symbolic "strike" by conservatives won't accomplish squat, but give these fools some piece of mind that they have done something - when, in reality, they have done nothing at all: refusing to purchase and goods or services on Thursday, simply means that everyone will stock up on Wednesday, or double up on Friday.
Want to something REALLY constructive, conservatives? Quit promoting wars of conquest... stop promoting corporate interests ahead of those of the citizenry... and for Heaven's sake - start practicing what you preach.
"They need conservative employees, who tend to be the most reliable and conscientious."
Like Mark Sanford!
So let's agree - if conservatives bring the country to its knees on 7/30 then you win; if no one notices then you have proved your irrelevance once and for all?
I love it when the Lefties throw rocks at people who have standards, and then fall short because they are human. I guess it is easier to have no standards at all...
Bush was no conservative, and Obama is no saviour. You Socialists and Fascists (Statists, all) who believe that government is the answer need to be honest with yourselves, and with us, and admit that this is just a power grab for personal gain. You HuffPo idealists are just tools and useful idiots.
Please, Google the term "useful idiot". You might be surprised to learn that you are expendable too, just not yet...
The progressive movement is a global power grab. If you people on the Left think that we will all be in Utopia once the conservatives and the industrialists are destroyed, perhaps you should look at the source of the ideas being proposed, where they have been tried before, and what the results have been.
As for me? I am through with symbolism.

Don't forget to start with a tea party on July 4!! My family is heading to the one in charleston (charlestonteaparty. org)
Screw progressives, the did not win, the stole the election with corrupt media, Obama lies and Soros money- not what the founders would call victory. The founders would say they are the enemy. This doesn't end July 30th, this begins July 30th.
I dislike the idea of conservatives usurping this message. Ayn Rand was not a conservative, by her own admission and the facts of her philosophy. She espoused reason, not faith, egoism in ethics, the gold standard, NO regulation, No censorship, NO military draft, and NO welfare of any kind. She was a true radical for Capitalism.
For those who think this will have a huge impact on tax revenue, it won't. Most people's spending will not change, overall. It will just be diverted to a different day. If I don't buy gas today, I'll just buy it tomorrow. If I don't go out to eat on the 30th, I'll buy groceries on the 29th. If I don't purchase that new iPhone on the 30th, I'm still going to buy it, just on another day. That's why all those "don't buy gas on this day" protests never worked. The dip in demand was counteracted by the increased demand on the surrounding days.
Start with the 7/4 tea parties. Attend the 9/12 march in Washington. Limit your response to the census to just the number in your household. Don't further hurt the economy. It will just give the government more fuel for future bailouts.
This is silly. I'm ultra conservative but I'd never make my employer suffer because of the government's stupidity. Find another way to get the message across. It's anti conservative to not be hard working, loyal and dependable to our employers.
I'm in.
Rule of the United States Constitution? Right, because Conservatives haven't done damage to that over the years. Who needs free speech when there's porn to censor? Who needs a jury trials, expedient trials, or usual punishment when there are terrorists about? Who needs protection from unreasonable search and seizure when there are guilty people? Who needs the right to self-determination when the government can take it away from you so you don't get to smoke pot? Oh, and never mind limiting the powers of the federal government, the States and the People don't know anything. We need uniformity!
Books have been written about the Colonial boycotts on British products. Not only did it put pressure on the British government it also allowed Patriots to hone their organizational skills.
IMO, a two day moratorium on BUYING ANYTHING woule be much more effective. IF EVERY CONSERVATIVE DID THIS< THIS MAY MAKE A DIFFERENCE> DONT BUY ANY GAS< GROCERIES< DONT SPEND ANY MONEY>
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
AHAHAAHAHAHA
holy crap ahahahahahahaah
yes please do this hahahahha
ps: when you get fired, im going to take your job and give the money you would have made to ACORN.
So, people are still pretending Obama isn't a part of the corporate empire? If people "call in conservative" they'll be sitting in the unemployment line with the rest of the 10% of the nation when they're fired and replaced with someone who will work for less.
If any of these conservatives get fired for calling in on just this one occasion, doesn't that kind of quash the notion of how indispensible they were in the first place?
On July 30th, Conservatives are "Going Galt". On that date, Tea Party Nation is asking Conservatives all across the nation to "Call in Conservative". On July 30th, Conservatives will not work, we will not buy. Instead, we will spend time with our families and friends. We will show President Obama and Congress who REALLY drives this economy. For more information on "A Day Without Conservatives" please visit www.teapartynation.com .
Hope all these idiots get fired and extreme liberals take their jobs.
By all means go for it. Do it. Does anyone in here remember the 2007 when the illegal immigrants went on strike to protest immigration policy? If you don't, well, that is because it flopped.
I don't think the hard right can understand what happens when they don't win an election. Being the political minority is supposed to suck. Honestly the conservative movement is horribly fragmented right now, and by trying to do a repeat of the ridiculous tea parties are just setting themselves up to look even more ridiculous to the rest of American society. It is as if they didn't realize they lost the 2008 elections by a huge margin.
The conservatives have trampled over the budget, wasted our political capital on a war we didn't need (Iraq), and introduced the Patriot Act. They cut taxes, yet the budget has kept growing. Whatever credentials they had for fiscal conservatism is shot to hell, which was the only thing I liked about the 'conservative' movement.
Get over it. You lost. Reg
Get over it. You lost. Regroup. Take notice of the fact that the minorities and the young secured the presidency for Obama. The conservative movement is run by Limbaugh, Palin, and Steele...Three big indications of what is wrong with the party as a whole. It's time to go back and rethink how to be a viable alternative to the democrats. That could be a very long time if this is how the conservative movement continues to act.
March on Media - Media Reform Now!
Democrats gained ground with an anti-war campaign strategy at a mid-term election years ago. The anti-war crusade worked. It even turned against President Bush. It was nasty, disrespectful rancor. You may recall photo-shopped images from Iraq or Dan Rathers fake documents. With a biased media, all of this anti-Bush speechifying caught on like wildfire. Bush endured unprecedented levels of outward public disrespect. The unfounded rhetoric and vilifying was fostered by a corrupt DNC and a complicit media to oust the GOP. Regular folks are only just now starting to catch on to the manipulation. In 1996 the CIA reported an extreme bias taking hold in American Universities fostered by an oil-rich source. General Electric's Stimulus-funded media continues to poison the well. There must be media reform before change can occur. The media is shameless. Remember, the average age of populations worldwide is 27. Wisdom is scarce.
so how did this protest turn out
I think if you have to ask how the protest turned out, that's an answer in itself.
Or, in other worlds: FAIL
Isn't a strike by its very definition a collectivist activity?
Seems to me the next generation of Randroids is doing a perfect job of preserving Rand's legacy. They blather on and on about the intrinsic "goodness" of laissez-faire capitalism and the "evils" of socialism (where, pray tell, are the Stalinesque gulags in Western Europe, Canada, and other nations with mixed economies?), but when push comes to shove, the mob mentality takes over. "We're mad as hell, and we're not going to take it any more?" To a radical individualist, there can be no "we." There is only "I."
Got something to say?
