George Soros and Obama: enemies of liberty

I think it’s fairly obvious that had it not been for the Hungarian-born billionaire George Soros, Barrack Obama would not be President of the United States today. Soros, who made most of his billions through the currency speculation which he first commenced during the post-war hyper inflation in Hungary in 1946, has become the world’s top financial supporter of statism and socialism. He is a “soft fascist”, as author Mark Levin would say, that is to say, someone who would foist a socialist totalitarian government on us by incremental steps.

American liberty, our most sacred possession, is in severe peril. Our Founding Fathers understood that our liberty depends on the belief in the dignity of the individual, and the right to live freely and pursue what we choose to pursue because these are our God-given natural rights, not because they are “gifts” from the government. They understood that individual self-reliance and hard work are the hallmarks of liberty. They understood that the right to possess private property is essential to liberty, and that this relationship is basic to freedom and civil society. These concepts, along with a moral order based on faith in God and the rule of law, are the very foundations of liberty.

These beliefs require that the power of government must be limited to succeed. Our Founders knew this, and made every effort to create checks and balances, and to continue the federalist system of separate state governments in order to limit the size and power of the federal government.

The statists, which is a term used to describe today’s modern big-government liberals, spend every waking hour trying to expand the size and authority of government. They are constantly at work trying to find new ways to tax us and to intrude into our private lives with more and more regulations, laws, and rules. They currently have control of the Democrat Party, the Presidency and both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. In these endeavors, these statists have a sugar daddy with the name of George Soros.
For example, Health Care for America Now! (H.C.A.N!), the main political coalition trying to socialize one-sixth of the American economy through the Obamacare plan (which unfortunately, Congressman Mike Mollohan supports), is not a grassroots movement, but instead is a series of related left-wing pressure groups united by a statist ideology and this common donor, George Soros. Among the members of its steering committee are ACORN, MoveOn.org, and the Center for American Progress (C.A.P.), headed by former Clinton chief of staff John Podesta (Clinton’s hatchet man on gun control), which was created with Soros’ money. In 2007, a Soros organization, the Open Society Institute (O.S.I.), gave C.A.P. $1.75 million and approved grants totaling $1.25 million. Soros personally gave millions to MoveOn.org before the 2004 elections, and he has funded ACORN, a noted practitioner of election fraud and other crimes.

The same can be said for President Obama’s proposed Cap & Trade energy tax bill, which will greatly expand the size and power of the government, greatly increase energy costs for Americans, while at the same time destroying much of the American economy and putting thousands of coal miners out of work. This Bill is backed by a similar coalition of Soros-funded left-wing groups.

Recently, as NRA Executive Director Wayne LaPierre has pointed out in his November 2009 American Rifleman column, President Obama’s newly appointed “Diversity Czar” at the Federal Communications Commission (F.C.C.), Mark Lloyd, has pledged to silence talk radio (AKA Radio Free America) with so-called “progressive” local radio and national radio programming called “National People’s Radio”. He would break up the broadcasting companies that carry Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, Dobbs, Quinn and the rest and replace them with local licenses and NPR type programming. This is the new face of what was previously called the “fairness doctrine”, and which I call the censorship doctrine.

President Obama’s appointment of Lloyd to this position is a direct attack on the First Amendment right to free speech, but in a page from George Orwell’s 1984, the statists are presenting this coming censorship plan as a program to protect the First Amendment. It is an indirect attack on the Second Amendment, because these are the very radio shows that allow us to communicate our pro-gun message.
President Obama’s transition team was headed up by the same John Podesta mentioned above. He targeted the F.C.C., and had Mark Lloyd appointed as its Czar for the very purpose outlined in this article. Podesta is the director of the socialist think-tank, The Center for American Progress (C.A.P.), which, as I indicated above, is bankrolled by the infamous George Soros.

Gun owners rightly know that the Second Amendment, that wonderful human expression of our God-given right to defend ourselves, our families, and our liberty, is our “first freedom”, as Charlton Heston once said. President Obama has cleverly chosen not to directly take on our freedom with a frontal attack on gun rights, but instead to chip away at our liberty through censorship, and other big-government schemes like Obamacare and Cap and Trade.

If these Obama-Soros laws and policies go into effect, they will do more to destroy our freedom than any direct assault on the Second Amendment would ever do. There will be little liberty remaining to defend with the guns that we still have.  We, as Americans who love liberty, must communicate with our representatives in Congress to stop this end run on our Constitutional rights.
