New MLA, new logo, much bigger event. Last year the Wildrose Alliance used to have about 1500 members. A year later the party annual general meeting is almost the same attendance to the speech by Danielle Smith on Friday evening. New commissioned polls aside showing a leveling off of the party a fair amount of excitement filled the room.
The day started with the announcement of Guy Boutilier joining the party as its fourth Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. With him the party has reached official party status in t he legislature. Some scoffed at the the idea that Boutilier is a fit for the party but he brings a sense of moderation to the party which had often been perceived as too right wing.
The arrival of Danielle Smith was preceeded by a huge cheerleading as hundreds banged sticks, roared and whistled their way for her arrival.
The Wildrose also introduced a slightly simplified logo as well.
