Many people across this nation are living in fear right now, thanks to Obama saying that their Social Security checks wouldn't be sent out if the budget didn't pass before August 3rd.
Congressman Louie Gohmert (TX-1) has said that it would be nice if we had a leader who led like Roosevelt when he said, “The only thing to fear is fear itself,” and he is right. He also clearly says that there is money for the Social Security checks and there is for many months whether Congress does anything about the debt ceiling or not.
Congressman Joe Walsh (IL-8) also made a youtube video to tell the people the same thing.
However, if the budget doesn't pass our soldiers will be without pay unless the bills that Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison and Congressman Louie Gohmert have introduced to keep their pay going regardless. Ensuring Pay for Our Military Act of 2011 is the bill, which already has 80 co-sponsors in the Senate and 198 co-sponsors in the House, calls for the soldiers to get their pay even if the government shuts down.
If you wish to help the soldiers on active duty to be paid regardless, like those on Social Security will be, you need to call your Congressman in the House for them to vote for HR 1297 and your Senator and tell them to support S 724. If it passes it goes on to Obama for him to either sign it and guarantee our soldiers get their pay or veto it and show all of America that our soldiers are less important than his desire to get more of our money through higher taxes.
So, the real threat to both those on Social Security and our soldiers would be getting their checks if the government shuts down, is one person and only one—Barack Obama—as he would have to order the Treasury not to send out the Social Security checks and veto the bill to pay the soldiers.
These bills will force Obama to either do the right thing and sign it or prove that our military means nothing more to him than a pawn to get more money from the people. Then the people might understand that nothing Obama is doing is in their best interest or the best interest of this country because his agenda is to turn this country into a socialist empire with him as our ruler, not just our President.
