The Charm City Devils Concert Review

Charm City Devils, Baltimore, MD 5/29/09

The Charm City Devils had atleast two significant reasons to put on a show at the Bourbon Street Ballroom on May 29th.  The show served as an album release party and also a farewell party as they were about to embark on the tour of debauchery that is Crue Fest 2.

Crue Fest 2 is a marathon rockshow headlined by 80's rock rebels Motley Crue and also includes Godsmack, Theory of a Deadman, and Drowning Pool.  Tickets are still available for the Nissan Pavilion show on August 22, 2009.

The tour is not their sole connection to Motley Crue. The Charm City Devils were the first band to sign on to Nikki Sixx's label Eleven Seven and their album Let's Rock and Roll, was released that day.  The album sold out in the Baltimore area before the show that evening.

Their first single "Let's Rock and Roll" is raw, infectious, and should be played by NFL or NHL teams to energize the crowd.  The song can be heard on 98 Rock.   In case audience members had any doubts that they were at a hard rock show, before singing the song lead singer John Allen instructed the audience to, "scream your balls off... and ladies just grab the guy's next to you."

Unlike a number of bands who record one hit song, this band has a slew of potential hits on their album.   The song "Best of the Worst" has all of the "Lips of an Angel" elements that skyrocketed Hinder to the top of the charts.  Unlike the party-anthem "Let's Rock and Roll" this time the lyrics are endearing and personal,  "I know I'm not perfect but baby I'm the best of the worst," proving that the band is versatile.

Black Day Seven opened the show and returns to the same stage in September to open for LA Guns.
