Headliner's music hall is proud to present the Drive By Truckers in concert on February 9, 2012. Hailing from Athens, Georgia, then band prefers to indentify themselves with the state of Alabama. Long known throughout the South, the Drive By Truckers mesh alternative rock and country, cowpunk, southern rock and gothic country into a sound that's all their own. Before being signed in 1996, the band was an underground phenomenon and they won the 'Best Unsigned Band' during the late Eighties! As well, the Drive By Truckers were one of the first musical groups to take full advantage of using the internet to get their name spread around.
Known for recording in analog format and offering their music on vinyl records for their fans, the Drive By Truckers have quite a diverse catalogue of music. Their 2001 album "Southern Rock Opera" was a commercial breakout. Lyrically the band writes about distinctly Southern myths, culture and ways of life and many of their albums have garnered much critical acclaim. More recent offerings like 2008's "Brighter than Creation's Dark" and 2010's "GoGo Boots" were both very successful!
Having played the Bonnaroo Festival and opening for legends like Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, the Drive By Truckers have amassed a significant following throughout the years with extensive touring. Fans can expect to hear singles like "Bulldozers & Dirt", "Never Gonna Change", "A Blessing and a Curse", "A Ghost to Most" and "Your Woman is a Living Thing".
The show takes place at Headliner's music hall located at 1386 Lexington Road. The venue was once a rehearsal hall for Prohibition era 'big bands'. Many of the interior walls are adorned with painted murals circa 1939. The show starts at 9:00 PM with the doors opening at 8:00 PM. Tickets for this concert are just $25 each and may be bought at the venue or on etix.com. This is an '18 & Over' event.
