ELVISes have left the building-and entered the hall.

This is the time of year when Elvis Presley fans world wide come together and celebrate the life of the King of Rock and Roll. Some even venture to Graceland as part of the celebration. August 16, 2009 will mark 32 years since the passing of Elvis. Fans will never forget the effect he had on music and culture. It is no secret that Elvis Presley impersonators exist all over the world in various looks and eras of the King. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery right? Something that may not be as well known however is the large part Charm City takes annually in the lives of Elvis impersonators and regular fans alike.

This year will mark the 16th year Baltimore has been hosting Night of 100 ELVISes at the Lithuanian Hall. People come from all over to share in the Elvis love. The party of the year kicks off Friday, December 4 with a second night of celebration Saturday, December 5. Night of 100 ELVISes is truly a sight to behold; the main ballroom alone features over 40 bands and Elvis tribute artists playing Elvis music throughout the evening. They guarantee that while you’re in the main ballroom you will never hear the same Presley song twice.

Even though the party is still several months away the organizers believe it is never too early to start planning. In that respect they’ve made tickets available by mail year round. Closer to the event general admission tickets only will be available at select local vendors as well. General admission tickets are $55.00; this includes draught beer and soft drinks as well as a buffet. The buffet naturally includes some of Presley’s favorite dishes. If you prefer seats, tables can also be reserved for $800.00 for a table of 10, which breaks down to $80.00 per seat. The coordinators have also made arrangements with some Baltimore hotels that involve bargain room rates and free shuttle service to and from the event.

This is one event that should not be missed. Whether your Elvis fandom is casual or fanatical, Night of 100 ELVISes is always in the running for party of the year. See you there!

I just saw the King in WAWA this morning pouring a Hazelnut coffee!
This could be worth the price of admission. Great article Amanda!
Nice job on the Math too.

Part of the event also includes a raffle to win an amazing, custom motorcycle. Tix are $10 and the proceeds benefit a cool program called Hungry for Music that helps underprivileged kids get access to music programs, creative experiences, and instruments. The bike will be on display tonight through Dec. 4th in the lobby of the Radisson Hotel at Cross Keys off Falls Road if anyone wants to check out what they could win! Long live the King!
