Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Austin City Limits Music Festival has yet to officially announce a replacement for the Beastie Boys who had to bow out of the Friday evening headliner spot due to Adam Yauch's (MCA) cancer diagnosis. The rumor mill is speculating there will be a new act announced soon.
The Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago next month also scheduled the Beasties to appear at Grant Park. The organizers, C3 Presents, who also plan the ACL Festival, have announced the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs will fill the empty spot on the bill in Chicago.
A call to C3's Austin office on Wednesday unofficially confirmed that the ACL Festival will also host the Yeah, Yeah Yeahs on the main stage as the Friday evening headliners this October 2nd at Zilker Park. Look for an announcement online at the Austin City Limits Music Festival website soon. As of Thursday afternoon the official schedule still lists the Kings of Leon as headliner's opening night of the festival.
The Beastie Boys have canceled a number of other dates on their current tour and will delay release of their forthcoming album.
More ACL news and previews to come. Stay tuned.

Thanks for keeping me up to date.
The show must go on ~
Meh
weak trade off..... no bueno
Seriously?? Pretty weak. May be my first and last ACL.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs are AMAZING live.. just wait.
Lame!
love yeah yeah yeahs, but that's not an even swap. My tickets don't feel like their worth what I paid for them. They need someone bigger.
WEAK.
Might be the first ACL where I'll be selling my tickets.
it will be moby... playing houston and dallas on saturday and sunday.
i win.
there may be more hot chics now... that might be the only upside
This must be your first ACL if you think one band will make the difference.
I wish the switch Ghostland to that slot and put a smaller replacement on Saturday night to compete with DMB. Not happy that I'll have to chose with the current schedule.
