Those of us who have covered a couple of Depeche Mode concerts in the past arrived to cover their current tour ,“Tour of the Universe”, with unknown expectations. Depeche Mode formed in England in 1977, releasing their first album “Speak and Spell” in 1981. They were an instant success, gaining countless fans worldwide who have remained loyal and present at their concerts decade after decade, even after watching lead singer David Gahan attempt suicide, fight a drug addiction, and take on a solo music career for a second time just two years back--hence the unknown expectations for those of us covering the performance just prior to this legendary band taking stage. Would they perform like they did in their prime, or would they be displaying a Steve Tyler type of recent performance behavior?
As it turns out, Depeche Mode indeed was performing as they did in their prime. In fact, it would be safe to say that Gahan is “the cleanest he’s been”. The band was blissful and boisterous, perfectly performing their most celebrated songs amidst their new ones.
From a technical standpoint, the stage and subjects are so well lit that even a standard camera setting will allow you to capture many winning shots for your publication. ISO settings ranging from 400 to 800 should all be safe for successful shooting.
If you’ve already missed their “Sounds of the Universe” tour, don’t fret. They’re on a roll. They’re rockers. They’re bound to come back again!

Texas' concerts were amazing.

i freaking LOOOOOVE! THis band.Been a fan since i was 10yrs old now i am 29yrs.Dave Gahan was as sexy and fabulous as ever with his sexy thang moves. He is the rock/new wave god to me.The show was phenomenal at the woodlands.i didnt want it to end,so many fans that were there felt the same. Many relived their youth with their classic songs. It was such a joy being there with so many die hard fans.Even from other cities(hello Chris from new orleans).I got some great shoots of dave gahan and martin gore, being several rows back from the stage made it just a bit easier :).It was by far the best depeche mode concert ever.I really wish they do come again.
"I just can't get enough" of Depeche Mode. Loooooove them. They have no competition whatsoever. Saw the show in NYC at the Madison Square Guarden, it was exquisite! Honestly Dave Gahan keeps getting better and better with age. He looked amazingly gorgeous and he is 47, I think he looked better than in his younger years plus his performance, his dance, the lights, everything just perfect. The shows are way too short, 2 hours is a tease! DM 4ever!!!!
