For the musically inclined Malibu(ite), The Malibu Inn at 22969 Pacific Coast Highway has been a fixture for decades. Although the venue was established in the 1920's (and according to its website once owned by Neil Young), the venue has became known over the past decade simultaneously for its ever-changing ownership, and impressive impromptu jam sessions that featured the likes of Kid Rock, Chris Robinson and Marc Ford (of The Black Crowes), and Gary Busey. Since changing ownership again in 2011, the venue has been regaining its reputation for hosting good local musical talent.
On Friday January 27th, the venue played host to one of LA's best upcoming blues rock singer's - Arielle Verinis. Inspired by the likes of Janis Joplin and the late Etta James, Verinis is readying for release her debut record which she funded via fan donations at Pledge Music. According to her Pledge Music page, the album will be released in early March and is to feature guest spots from the legendary Booker T. Jones and local hipsters Blake Mills and Taylor Goldsmith.
