Wednesday July 15th

-Kristeenyoung, a local NYC duo comprised of vocalist/pianist Kristeen Young and drummer "Baby" Jef White is playing The Studio at Webster Hall at 8pm. Kristeenyoung has toured with notable acts such as Morrissey and Ted Leo and The Pharmacists. Their latest CD entitled "Music for Strippers, Hookers and the Odd On-looker" is rock music that features violently angry piano more than most do these days and was produced by Tony Visconti, known for his work with David Bowie, Thin Lizzy and Iggy Pop. The CD is slated to release in September 2009. The youngin's out there might also be interested to know that Fall Out Boy vocalist Patrick Vaughn Stump contributes vocals on track 6 of the CD, "That's What it Takes, Dear."

-Nickelback brings their Dark Horse Tour to Nikon at Jones Beach Theater at 6pm. Saving Abel, Papa Roach and Hinder are on hand to warm up the crowds for this hugely successful rock band. Make sure you get there early enough for Papa Roach. They gained a reputation as being the show-stealer of last summer's Crue Fest tour and 2007's Bad Boys of Rock Tour (also with Hinder). I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case on this tour as well.

Friday July 17th and Saturday July 18th

-Paul McCartney plays Citi Field for its first concerts, keeping with Sir Paul's historical appearances at Shea in 1965 and appearing at Billy Joel's "Last Play at Shea" stadium closing show last year. Door time is 5pm. If you're driving, be prepared to shell out $30 for parking, which is claimed to be "limited." It's strongly encouraged that concertgoers take advantage of Mass Transit.

Saturday July 18th

-The Vans Warped Tour, now in its 15th year, makes a stop at Nassau Coliseum. There will be 66 bands on the bill, including 3OH!3, Alexisonfire, NOFX, A Day to Remember, Senses Fail, Madina Lake, The Devil Wears Prada and MTV Hills darlings The White Tie Affair. If you're not completely familiar with all the bands on the bill, for a limited time the tour's official site is offering a CD sampler including some of the Warped artists, such as Bayside, Jeffree Star and Aiden. The festival's site is also offering up VIP passes to the Meet & Greet Area which fans can obtain by purchasing tickets and signing up to donate blood with Music Saves Lives via a special Ticketmaster link.

-Q-Tip plays Central Park Summerstage for free with Benji B, Chester French and Little Dragon. Q-Tip is best known for his work with hip hop legends A Tribe Called Quest, but has had huge success on his own since 1998's "Vivrant Thing" and "Breathe & Stop" and his latest "The Renaissance." The show is listed as being from 3-7pm, so I'd suggest getting in line after noon to secure a spot as this Queens native is sure to draw a large crowd.

-Head out to Coney Island for their annual Siren Festival, now in its 9th year. It's a music driven day-long festival that features tons of bands. This year's lineup includes Built to Spill, Spank Rock and The Raveonettes. One word of advice: be prepared to wait in huge lines at all the food booths. I think I waited almost an hour to get a meal at Nathan's. The shows take place on two stages from 12-9pm. The free event is all ages.

Sunday July 19th

-The Jonas Brothers hit up Nassau Coliseum with openers Jordin Sparks and Honor Society. Bring earplugs, as I'm sure the screams you encounter will shatter eardrums.

-Papa Roach takes a night off from the aforementioned Nickelback tour to headline at The Chance in Poughkeepsie. A fixture in the mainstream rock scene since 2000's Infest, the group has continued to enjoy success as recently as this year, holding the #1 spot for weeks on Fuse TV's Rock Countdown with "Lifeline", off their current CD Metamorphosis. Local NYC band Static Summer opens the show. Doors are at 6:30. This show is general admission.
