Navy Pier in Chicago is saluting Black History Month with a tribute to the 'King of Pop' Michael Jackson, as the newest part of the presentation 'Perseverance & Persistence: An Exhibition of Pride. The tribute started on February 1 and will run through February 28, 2010.
On Saturday, February 20th at noon, there will be a DJ Dance Party tribute to King of Pop Michael Jackson. Families can party with Michael Jackson impersonator Michael 'Rico' Jackson and the Tiny Temps as they rock the Family Pavilion Stage with Jackson dance moves and music hits.
Michael J. Jackson was born August 29, 1958, in Gary, Indiana in the Chicago area. At age five Michael began his musical expedition as the youngest member and lead vocalist of the Jackson 5. Jackson will be remembered for his musical genius as Navy Pier honors the 'King of Pop' during Black History Month, as an accomplished African American star.
The Navy Pier exhibition showcases African Americans who have enriched the world through achievements in the fields of math, science, film, literature, politics, music, education, sports and more. The month long tribute at Navy Pier will be held through February 28 at the Family Pavilion Stage North. Exhibit times are Monday through Thursday 10:00 AM to8:00 PM, Friday and Saturday 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM and Sunday 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM.
