The American Cancer Society Bark for Life ™ is a canine event to fight cancer being held on at the Old School Forest Preserve in Libertyville, Illinois on August 16, 2009. The Bark for Life of Lake County is a
group dog walk that brings attention to the fight against cancer. This is a great chance to take your dog for a walk in a community event that helps in the fight against cancer.
Bark for Life of Lake County will be at the Old School Forest Preserve, Shelter C, at Old School Road and St. Mary’s Road in Libertyville, IL 60048. Registration begins at 8:00 AM. At 9:30 AM all paws hit the pavement for a one mile walk. After the walk there will be dog centered activities.
Registration in advance is $25. Registration on the day of the event will be $35.
Bark for Life
According to the American Cancer Society Bark for Life website, the is a mini relays that is a full ACS Relay fundraising event that honors the care giving qualities of canine “Best Friends.” The event honors the contribution of Canine Caregivers and presents the opportunity to contribute to cancer

cures through the mission of the American Cancer Society.
Canine Caregivers assist in patient care and quality of life issues in roles as Canine Companions, Guide Dogs, Service Dogs, Rescue Dogs, Therapy Dogs, Police Dogs, Cancer Survivor Dogs and Diagnostic Dogs. The Canine Caregivers , along with their owners, join the American Cancer Society and Relay teams.
The relay is a fundraiser to support cancer research, raise awareness and to help eliminate the worldwide suffering caused by cancer. ACS Bark for Life celebrates cancer survivorship and honors people who have been lost to cancer.
Canine companions represent unconditional love, joy, security, compassion, and no judgments of human abilities or appearances. The American Cancer Society Bark for Life is an irresistible way to “take a bite out of cancer”, smile, and make new friends canine & human. (ACS website)
