Who's the real Cap?
It's a great question - and one that is set to be answered this coming Monday.
For those of you who haven't been following the exploits of Captain America, here's a little catch-up. A few years back, Marvel killed off Steve Rogers, the guy who has been slinging the Star-Spangled Shield for decades. In his place: James "Bucky" Barnes," who goes back to World War II, when he was Cap's sidekick (comic-book kookiness, including suspended animation in an iceberg and mind control, have kept both relatively young). The development has led to a critically-acclaimed series of Captain America comic books, in which Bucky must essentially learn how to wear Cap's boots. The idea has kinda been ripped off by rival DC Comics, which recently instilled Dick Grayson, the original Robin, as its new Batman.
Anyhoo, there's speculation among comics bloggers that Marvel is set to bring Steve Rogers back to the helm - and will use Captain America #600 to do so. Comics are typically released on Wednesdays, but Marvel is making it available Monday instead, and has hinted at some big press releases that day that will have fans all a-twitter.
Should Marvel bring back the "real" Cap? I say no. I'm enjoying the current series, and the new possibilities it brings to the character and its history. Keep Steve Rogers in the ground for now, Marvel. As anyone who has ever read a comic book series for an extended period of time can tell you, no one stays dead for more than a couple of years. Wait for a few more of those to elapse before returning Steve Rogers to his four-color glory.

Actually it looks like Marvel will be announcing a black Captain America.
Killing Steve Rogers was a cowardly act by Marvel, allowing the creative staff behind the book to avoid making a statement about the condition of the country. To separate Cap from Rogers is like saying you can separate Batman from Bruce Wayne. The alter ego informs the hero, and vice versa, and to just toss that away... Sorry. It's just not right to say CA is just a costume. And that's what they did. I hope they see the error of their ways and bring back Rogers. Otherwise, it just isn't Cap.
@Moyashi
You are 10 different kinds of wrong.
Bucky Cap works better in the marvel universe right now than Rogers did.
I have to side with Island of the Lost. Bucky Cap is a more compelling character. Having someone who is still finding his way, vs. a hero who has been on top of his game for decades, is simply put, better for storytelling.
I think Pete is right. I fully expect to see Isaiah Bradley, his grandson Eli (Patriot) or possibly even Sam Wilson (Falcon) to become Cap in Reborn #1.
It's kinda unfair to say DC "kinda ripped off" Marvel in replacing Bruce Wayne as Batman with Dick Grayson. Dick Grayson filled in for Batman in a storyline called "Prodigal". Cap has also been replaced before, as well. It's not so much WHAT Ed Brubaker has done, as it is how well he is doing it.
I think that they should bring back Steve Rogers because with the whole Dark Regin right now they need a strong leader and Clint nor Bucky can do that. Though I think a black Captain America would be great espesial if it was Luke Cage I dont think it could be the same. Finally You cant Change Captain America really I mean Bucky's costume was okay but you need the red boots and gloves and just look like a big red white and blue target...$10 says Red Skull is going to be tied into all of this some how...fucking Nazis
Crapton America is one of the lamest characters Marvel has ever had. Thankfully, a great writer can take pretty much any character and create a story worth reading. One instance of this, in my opinion, is CA in "The Ultimates". I see this again and again and it's why I don't follow characters or specific titles as much as great writers.
-You think captain america is lame! They invented Captain america to inspire the soldiers in world war 2
-He is the first and Most strongest avenger of all time
-He is the only superhero that doesnt have any powers but can still kick some serious ass
So if you say he's lame Then you got some serious problems Dude
f marvel for bringing back steve rogers. i'm tired of comic book death. rogers, wasp, bill foster, thor, and everyone else who died recently should have stayed or should stay dead. god forbid that their writers would have to come up with ideas for new comics.
You know what marvel Should Do,They should Make the new captain america James Rogers Captain america and Black widow's Son. They should even Bring all the Next avengers into this Case. That would be worth some time but i still have to admit Captain america is still my favorite superhero.
Daniel, Ive enjoyed Marvel's take on Bucky as Cap and DC's take on Dick Grayson as Robin. The stories have been more interesting because the characters are somewhat untested, still learning, prone to make mistakes. You get the impression that the original Cap and Batman are bored, just going through the motions, have seen it all before, whereas Bucky and Grayson are seeing things with fresh eyes
Got something to say?
