Max Brooks
G.I. Joe, the Hasbro toy property and long-time military action comic book staple, is probably not going to fight zombies anytime soon. But next year a 5 issue mini-series penned by Max Brooks...most famous for The Zombie Survival Guide and World War Z...will join IDW's lineup of Joe comics.
The deal was announced at this past weekend's San Diego Comic Con, and the official statements revealed no details other than a planned 5 issue miniseries to be written by the New York Times best-selling author. Still, it is exciting news for a brand that is seeing major multimedia revival; not only is the movie G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra opening next week, but IDW has been going strong with a multitude of G.I. Joe titles, including movie prequels, movie adaptations, an ongoing non-movie related monthly title, and two well-received miniseries. IDW has also published 10 trade paperback collections of the 1980s Marvel G.I. Joe title written by Larry Hama.
