Last weekend saw the first Maine Comics Arts Festival in Portland and, by all reports, it was a great success!
This one day event showcased small press comics as well as some creators who have done work for major comic publishers. Guests included:
Becky Cloonan (artist of "Demo", "American Virgin" and "East Coast Rising")
Chris Giarrusso (Mini-Marvels)
Gabrielle Bell (Cecil and Jordan in New York)
Ben Bishop (Nathan the Caveman)
Michael Connor (Coelacanthus)
Alex Irvine ("Daredevil Noir")
Dave Naybor ("Walking Christendom")
Jay Piscopo ("The Undersea Adventures of Capt'n Eli")
Joel Rivers ("Along the Canadian")
Christopher Mills & Joe Staton ("Atomic Pulp")
Marek Bennet ("Mimi's Donuts")
Dan Mazur (Boston Comics Roundtable)
MCAF has also posted a recap on their blog with lots of links to photos and blogs.
Due to overwhelming response, it appears that MCAF will soon announce dates for a 2010 show.
