Adrian Pasdar (Nathan Petrelli) fired from NBC's 'Heroes'

Adrian Pasdar/Nathan Petrelli has been fired from NBC's Heroes

Blame it on the writer's strike. Blame it on the producers. But, no matter whose fault it is, fans will agree that Heroes has never quite regained that first season magic. The ratings have been falling like a flightless Peter Petrelli jumping off of that roof in the pilot episode.

Rising production costs have already seen NBC make several changes to the show.

According to Nikki Finke at Deadline.com, the latest casualty is actor Adrian Pasdar who has portrayed lead character Nathan Petrelli since the very first episode.

Now, without spoiling too much for anyone who hasn't been keeping up with the show, given last season's finale, if anyone was on the chopping block, it'd be Pasdar's character. But, given the start of this season, it still seems like a bit of a shock. There still seemed to be plenty of story left for "Nathan."

Time will tell if this decision was a creative or business one.

    NOOOOO Not Nathan!

Why not let the guy who plays Mohinder go? His storyline deteriorated over time and he wasn't serving a purpose!

This is the saddest news I have ever read about any of my favorite television characters. Although the "death" of Nathan is no big surprise after all the attempts to kill this intriguing well-acted character during every timeline imaginable, I am more distressed at the story that this fine actor was treated in such a manner. (Supposedly in the past every actor was told in person in advance, not from reading a script.) Adrian deserved better than that. I will miss Nathan Petrelli. I will not miss NBC since HEROES and Nathan was the only reason to turn to NBC. Long live NCIS and CBS!

Wow, truly the greates stupidity of all time; Nathan Petrelli(next to and after Sylar) was and is my favorite character and as long as Zachary continues to play Nathan there is hope that Adrian will return. If anybody should be fired it's the moron who kicked a Heroe's character of the show. He should stop working immediately and give up his producing, directing or anyother career he has!!

I agree, Adrian is a good actor, the writers seriusly have lost imagination in his caharcter, seriusly, cause in the 1st episode of the season they give us a reason that he might have a greater storyline since he said that he wants to be a better person, I really hope this is fake, really, why, there are many other cast members/characters to let go, why always him really, every season they kill him, they kill his alternative selfs too, really what does the writers have against him, its no fair, and worst of all, no more Petrelli Bros moments :(.

Who the heck wrote this article? I can't seen any evidence in this one or the article its based off that Adrian Pasdar has been fired from the show. It's pretty ignorant to jump to that conclusion just because his character "died", considering its very possible for him to reappear through time travel, flashbacks, or Sylar still believing himself to be Nathan. In fact, Pasdar is slated to guest-star in the next two episodes, 408 and 409. Think before you regurgitate other baseless news stories, Donald.

I wouldn't call the article baseless. He did say "According to"
Plus, a simple search shows that this news has been "confirmed" all over the place since this article hit like TV Guide.com, The Hollywood Reporter, etc. And, it's not like they are going to hold a press conference to announce a character leaving a TV show.
That said... this news sucks. I was really looking forward to a Peter/Nathan showdown once Pete discovered that Sylar was impersonating his brother.

About time. Nathan really never grew on me. Same old story, over and over. Although, this leaves room for a new character to step up and take his place in dealing with all the political issues that the existence of evolved humans would create. My bet is on Tracy.

    NO ADRIAN NO HEROES....PERIOD.
If I am not mistaken the show is based more or less on the petrelli bros, the cheerleader/her dad and sylar...why kill Nathan??
This sucks..if they take him of the show I will not watch it anymore.

He is dead since the end of last episode, and Sylars shape-shifting has come to an end, very weak news really. What I will miss most is the relation between him and Peter! Anyway, as long as they make a big fuzz about one real dead, the whole show seems to go on, right?!

Please, just finally kill off all Ali Larter characters, and Mohinder, and don't bring them back anymore. Also, kill off the carnival people unless you're finally going to make them interesting. Robert Knepper was great on Prison Break and now he's so boring on Heroes. So boring.

Another character who had potential and is now killed off. Welcome, Nathan, to the very long list that included Eden, Adam Monroe, Bob and Elle.

There's a theme here: Good characters, pointlessly killed off. I'm glad I don't watch anymore.

Too bad, Nathan was one of my favourite characters throughout the show, complex and well-acted. It was Hiro and Ando who made me watch, but it's the Petrelli bros and Claire that made me stay. Really wish they either had continued to develop the whole Sylathan concept (it could've been interesting, IMHO), or killed Nathan off properly earlier in the show, not kill him off little by little like now.

They may be firing him as a main character, but I think it is obvious that Nathan can come back in many different ways. I think it unfair to Adrian Pasdar, that they kill him and then make it so the only way he can be on the show is to wait for them to write in a plot twist that includes Sylar shape shifting into Nathan. At the end of Season 3, I thought it was going to be excellent, they foreshadowed Sylar being Nathan in "Five Years Gone" in the first season. I thought they were following up on that in season four. I think Nathan will be a recurring character rather than a Main Storyline character.

I believe HEROES problems arise from the deviation after the first season.

Had they kept more to the original idea I think it could have done better. The original idea was to have a new set of HEROES each season, with possible guest spots from past HEROES.

They decided to change that model to milk the popularity of Sylar, Peter, etc. (Sylar originally was suppose to die at Kirby Plaza). The problem is that there are only so many stories you can tell about characters who have survived death time and again. There comes a time when suspension of disbelief ends.

The more characters you have the more a show costs to produce too, guest spots are much cheaper than main billing. To think that Peter, Hiro, etc are the only ones that can do good and save the world is ludicrous.

I believe also that they suffer from the NBC news programing and other programs that lean heavily left and alienate viewers. Folks see MSNBC and NBC and see them as the same. That hurts as it is a perception

Please kill Tracy and Mohinder! They are hopeless characters in the show. And Peter must have original ability, i want watch Peter's abilities like in season 2.

We need more girls. So many girls especially Elle, Daphne and Eden just keep dying off or written off. The shows needs Tracy if for no other than reason that at least more than boring Claire to look at. We must retain and get more girls on the show. After Elle and Daphne died at one point, the show was left with just Claire and Angela!!!!! We never saw Monica or Maya much after that. And now Gretchen is gone. And maybe Becky might not be seen. More girls please! And what about the degaying of Gretchen!!!

As for Nathan, at least that balances the excess of guys over girls on this show. Besides Nathan was boring and having him as the villain in Season 3 was an excellent to end for his story line. Better than some weak burning on a beach or some gay dream of flying to the moon.

Am I the only person who seems to remember the fact that a healers blood can bring somebody back from the dead? Noah WAS shot in the eye by Mohinder... Clare is a healer. In fact, I believe it was her blood that restored Noah... Nathan is totally able to come back.

True, but if you remember, it was Sylar-Nathan that was killed off. The real Nathan has been dead since last season, and I think the implication was that his body was destroyed. I don't think Claire's blood can reconstitute ash into a body. Plus, I think this was more of a firing and less of someone being written off of a show.

I agree with most of you. The Heroes producers are the dumbest S.O.B.'s around if they think killing off Nathan is the answer to getting heroes back on track. I've been a fan since the beginning, and it's been tough to stay loyal after each season has been becoming more and more confusing. They needed to figure out a better way of keeping Nathan in the mix (screw sharing a body with sylar). Breaking up some of the shows O.G.'s like the Petrelli brothers was a mistake, and unfortunately I will be forced to give heroes 3 more episodes to prove why killing off Nathan was a good idea or I'll have to stop watching the show. And if a big Heroes fan like me stops watching, loads of others already jumped ship and the producers just better start writing that last show cause ratings will be non-existent by then.

After my interest in Heroes waned a little in past seasons, I'm actually genuinely pleased with Season 4. I'm just wishing Nathan Petrelli was a little more thorough in offing himself.

I know that this is really late but I just finished watching all the seasons and I loved Nathan from the beginning I don't really know what it is but I just love him. I was really mad at him some times but he was always my favourite character. When I found out he was Claire's father I was sooo exited but then they just killed him right when Claire and Nathan were beginning to band. I was sooo mad and when Matt made all of Nathans memorier go into Sylars body I couldn't look at him without crying cause I knew that it wasn't going to work out. I always thought that Claire could save him by injekting some of her blood in his dead body like she did with her father, Noah when he got a bullet in his head but I guess he was only brain dead.
    )sorry about my english)
