Telling it like it is: Why you should be following Colin Kane

To first set eyes on comedian Colin Kane can be a somewhat misleading experience.  With his well-groomed appearance and charming smile, one can’t be blamed for expecting a tamer, much safer comedic approach – but behind that boyish grin lays an unabashed and brutally honest take on the world around him.

Kane, a regular guest on Opie and Anthony, was born and raised in New York and takes the NYC attitude six or seven steps further as he brazenly addresses topics that most other comics shy away from – whether it be his take on obesity or his eloquence in putting single women in their collective places.

“If it wasn't for weekly Facebook notifications,” Kane recently tweetedto his 10,000 plus Twitter army, “not a single person would care about your birthday. Not one.”

Kane has amassed a sizeable fan base that stretches across the US and beyond, having toured Europe earlier this year with fellow comedian Godfrey in addition to his regular performances at New York City’s Gotham Comedy Club and other major US cities.  While some may call him an insult comic, most who are exposed to Kane’s brand of blatant truthfulness find it not only to be absolutely hilarious, but relatable as well.

“You’re everything Dane Cook wanted to be,” states fan Tracy C. on Kane’s website.

What sets Kane apart in the comedy arena is not only his ability to win people over by putting them down, but his devotion to both his trade and his fans.  A proficient Twitter user, Kane is consistently reaching out to fans to address questions or to simply give thanks – securing a loyalty that keeps people coming back to Colin Kane’s shows time after time.

Kane’s Twitter feed has gained such notoriety that a recent post by Daniel Caulfield of thecampussocialite.com honored the Top 20 Most Vicious Tweets from Colin Kane:

“Uncircumcised dicks should have their own show on Animal Planet.”

“Looking ugly people in the eyes during conversation is my way of giving back to the community.”

“There are two types of people in the world: those who wear Sketchers Shape-Ups and those who deserve to live.”

While most comedians would feel lucky enough to avoid an onslaught of hate mail, Kane’s often-harsh and always critical Tweets, regardless of how shocking they may be, strike a chord with fans.  Kane’s Twitter voice is often in line with that very same inner voice most of us tend to suppress.

“I know what you’re thinking – I’m a thin guy making fun of fat people. Exactly.”

So say farewell to the devil on your shoulder, and start following Colin Kane on Twitter instead – he’s a hell of a lot funnier, and won’t leave you with that guilty feeling inside.
