“Bedtime Stories” is the story of Skeeter Bronson (Adam Sandler). Skeeter is the son of Marty Bronson (Jonathan Pryce), who was the former owner of a small motel which he sells to Barry Nottingham (Richard Griffiths). Nottingham tears down the old motel and builds a lavish hotel, the place where Skeeter is employed as a servant/janitor. Skeeter’s ultimate dream is to one day work his way up to manager of the hotel, but his hopes are shot down when Nottingham names his future son-in-law to be Kendall the manager. When it seems it couldn’t get worse Skeeter’s sister Wendy (Courtney Cox) calls in a favor and asks him to take turns with her coworker Jill (Keri Russell) watching her two children while she is out of town on a job interview. This is where the fun begins; Skeeter begins to tell the kids bedtime stories that begin to come true. Skeeter attempts to tell the stories in a manner that will allow him to achieve his dream, but with the input of the children his stories detour quite often.
This is a great film for children and adults alike, the humor is enjoyable for both sides. The most amusing thing about this film is Skeeter’s stories; they always start out in a manner that will directly benefit him. Then the children come through and edit them which provided many memorable moments. One scene in particular included Skeeter on the wrong end of a hate crime committed by little people. This film is great for anyone considering having a family movie night.
