Comedian Jay Black
Comedian and South Jersey native Jay Black is going on the road again. However, it's not to a comedy club in Montana or college student center. This time around his travels are taking him several thousand miles and a continent away. All to give some cheer to U.S. troops far from home.
Jay is part of the "I. A.M. Strong" Tour, which is being sponsored by the Army's SHARP Program (Sexual Harassment/Assault Response & Prevention). In addition to entertaining the troops, the tour is dedicated to eliminating sexual assault among soldiers. The message is even part of the tour's name: "I. A.M." is an acronym for "Intervene. Act. Motivate".
"Performing for the troops has been something I wanted to do since the very first millisecond I stepped on the stage," said Jay. "I'm as excited about this as I've been for any other performance. These guys and girls need the entertainment and are about four million times braver than me, so that's what helps me get over any nerves."
The two week tour will make stops at various Army bases in Germany and one stop in Italy. In addition to Jay, other acts include singer Leigh Jones, hip-hop band Animate Objects, and a number of Soldier performers.
