Make your own dvd commentary: Bad Movie Night at the Dark Room.

AP Photo/Ng Han GuanI usually go to the movies alone, because I often can't stand when my friend makes comments throughout the movie. I'm not paying for other people's commentary, I'm paying to see a movie. However, there are exceptions: when a movie is bad. The worse the movie, the more entertaining.

Sunday nights no longer need to be depressing because it signals the end of your weekend, The Dark Room hosts "bad movie nights" for only 5 dollars. Special guests will provide their own movie riffing and responding to the screen is highly encouraged. They write:

Seriously, though—ever notice how you can't walk down the street or open a magazine or stand in line at a store or simply exist without ads for some dumbass multi-zillion dollar movie about a talking kangaroo being shoved down your throat?

And then they expect you to pay fifteen dollars to see it in some googolplex, and after sitting through a half hour of commercials? Or watch it on DVD and have to sit through even more commercials and anti-piracy ads that you can't skip past? Doesn't it all just p*ss you off?

If so—or if you just like to have a good time—then Bad Movie Night is for you.

Currently, bad holiday movies including the infamous stinker Toys are on the schedule. The new year brings some notoriously bad blockbusters, including Snakes on a Plane, G.I. Joe, and Terminator Salvation.

I'm esspecially excited for March, which is Swayze month. Sadly, Road House is not on the schedule. I guess that one is so bad it just went right back to being genius.

Sounds hilarious--I wish Chicago had something like that!

    Great column, as always.
