Tarantino says 'Kill Bill Vol. 3' isn't his next film, nor is it called 'Kill Bill Vol. 3'

Quentin Tarantino, accepting one big-ass award, offers some rumors below

Since blowing up the box office with over $100 million in ticket sales to his latest opus, "Inglourious Basterds", there's been much speculation as to what film Quentin Tarantino would be taking on next.  Would it be horror?  A "Basterds" prequel?  His long-rumored "sexploitation" movie, probably set to feature many foot fetish scenes?  Or would it be a third "Kill Bill"?  Looks like we know a little more now, and you can read it for yourself below, my gentle Examiner readers...

We want to see more "Kill Bill", but not feverishly so.  The "Kill Bill" films-- volumes one and two-- were certainly entertaining, but we preferred the Tarantino that was on display in "Inglourious Basterds" over the action-oriented Tarantino of "Bill".

As such, the following came as good news to us here at the Comedy Examiner's Office:

"It wouldn't be 'Kill Bill,' " Tarantino confirmed to us. "It would be Volume 3 of the story of the Bride."

That's Tarantino's comments to MTV News regarding the title of the next "Kill Bill" film-- it won't be called "Kill Bill".  This makes sense, as "Bill" is dead in the movie universe as well as our own: David Carradine died, strangely and embarrassingly, last year in a bizarre hanging incident that some are still puzzling over (hint: nothing to puzzle over).  As for the timeline in which we can expect to see more adventures of "The Bride", Tarantino said:

There's no script; there are just ideas and notes," Tarantino said. "I won't do that next, but it could very well be the thing I do after next. We're getting there," he laughed. "We're about one movie away."

So, what will that one movie be?  Here's what Tarantino said next, see if you can get anything out of it:

There's a lot of idle talk going on out there," Tarantino continued. "At the same time, though, it's what I've been saying from the beginning. That cracks me up, because somebody asked me about it in one of my overseas trips and I said it. And on the Tarantino archives Web page there was all this stuff and the leader of the [site] goes, 'Ah guys. This is everything he's always said. It's just getting closer to 10 years. That's all!' "

OK, so MTV's not very good with the follow-up questions, apparently.  To recap: we know that there will be another "Kill Bill", it won't feature that title, it isn't Tarantino's next film, and his plan to return to the series after a ten year hiatus is-- in his mind-- well on track.  Also, MTV's not good about asking very obvious questions in order to land major scoopage.  Good journalizin' there, MTV News.

Stay tuned to the Comedy Examiner's Office for more news on...whatever it is that Tarantino decides to do next.  What do you think it'll be?  Horror?  More kung-fu?  An adaptation?  A western?  Animation?  Sound off in the comments section below, folks: we wanna hear your predictions!  And, while you're here, be sure to head on over to TV AND FILM GEEKS, the newest place the Comedy Examiner's calling home.  You'll get all the TV and Movie news that isn't comedy-related that you can handle, all in one easy-to-read website.  After you've done that, check out these other recent Comedy Examiner articles:
